Grm knows all. I assume french. What's it for? GO!
it's a combination fuel level and oil pressure gauge.
Because it is French, I will assume it is from a Citroen of some flavor, probably a DS because a DS was swank, while a 2CV would be too cheap of car to have any gauges other than a baguettes per kilometer gauge.
That looks older than the DS to me. Looks to have indicator lights of some sort at 3 (red) and 9 (green) as well.
Doesn't essence mean fuel in French? I know it was already identified, but that's what jumped out at me.
Huile is oil also in French. Knurleds obviously nailed it.

Yeah that looks pre-war to me.

Same. I've been looking and that has to predate the DS.

Seriously LMFAO right now.
Looks 1940's to me. I see two indicators, probably for signals.
What would make you think it's from a plane?
In reply to ShawnG :
Airplane engine instruments tend to be duplex like this one. They also tend to have warning indicator light in them for when things are going wrong.
Yeah, but, Jav... would any aviation engineer, even if he was French, specify a duplex gauge with scales that moved in opposite directions? Aren't we trying to help the pilot? (I'm overlooking the decorative enamel, because France.)
In reply to Stealthtercel :
I dunno man, back in those days planes were really really weird. Also, French.
It was just an idea, looked very aviation to me.
In reply to Javelin :
Just curious, that's all, hoping you knew something and were hiding it from us.
A lot of 40s cars had combined gauges.

It's a French instrument maker name brand according to Google.
