Related(?) I'm getting between 30 and 33 hypermiling with my 91 teg. Record of 35, but that's shutting the engine down while coasting. Don't drive in anger and 30 is easily obtainable.
Thats crazy stuff! I don't think I'd ever consider shutting the engine off and coasting. Cheers to you sir
It's not bad. I don't have any hairy traffic to contend with or anything. Neutral, key off, key to "on" position, coast, put in 5th, bump-start, repeat. I've gotten pretty smooth with the bump-starting by releasing, immediately depressing, rev-match and release. There's one spot where I coast a little over a 1/4 mile to a light that's usually red. Feels like I'm "winning." Savin' money is makin' money!
Really though, never shifting above 3 grand, and being easy on the gas, it's pretty easy to get 30mpg. A rear wheel bearing just started making noise on the way to work today. It'll be interesting to see if a new one yields better mileage.
I actually rarely do go above 3k. Don't think I've ever pushed it to the redline, not yet anyway.
I know the '95 B18 is different from my '01 B18 but I get upper 20's around town and mid to upper 30's on a trip... assuming I can get "real" gas. If I have to use 10% then the milage drops ~ 4 - 5 mpg
Nobody wants the B18A motors or transmissions, they are cable tranny's and will only swap into a pre-94 integra and pre-91 civic. They are damn cheap, the motor will set you back about 200, and the tranny about 150 or so. I'd take 25-50 off each for a quick sell myeslf.
The D-series is a nice set of motors, just be warned that its somewhat harder to tune then the motor that you already have in the car.
Why do you want/need to make the swap to a d-series? Is it to pass emissions or something?

Yeah, you've got an issue somewhere. If you drive like that, you should be getting high MPG than that.

Bit extreme to say Nobody wants a b18a motor and tranny. There are still some out there that own pre-94 tegs and pre 92 civics that want a swap and don't need or want a vtec motor. Maybe not the masses but they're out there.
See earlier post for my reasons. Also I would be selling the current mounts ,axles, ecu too. not just motor and tranny. I understand the appeal of the B series but I also think the D has it's up side too.
