I need 2 damn bolts to put my new flywheel on and cannot find them anywhere... any thoughts? I'm located in the middle of Pennsylvania and willing to drive anywhere in the state, potentially also to NY/NJ/MD if necessary. Audi B7 S4 aftermarket clutch/flywheel kit got shipped to me with 6 bolts and requires 8. I have Friday-Monday off and REALLY want to get this thing done over the weekend
These are the bolts:
M10 x 1.0 x 30 Plain 12.9 DIN 912 Socket Head Cap Screw
Local hardware and auto parts stores are a negative, Lowes and Home depot are a negative, Tractor Supply Co is a negative, Fastenal is a negative (they have them in stock 447 miles from me, that is the closest I have found)...
I'm almost ready to give up and buy a Chevy Silverado, every damn store around here stocks enough parts to build 100 of those things but no one has a single part that will fit this car.
have a true value nearby? they are my go-to for metric everything.
(Not to be a smartass but...) An Audi dealer?
One each in Lancaster and Mechanicsburg.

These need to be longer than OEM, otherwise I'd just reuse 2 of the OEM bolts.
No local hardware has M10x1.0 bolts, too fine of thread for that diameter.
Grainger doesn't carry them, McMaster-Carr doesn't carry them. I'm just looking for more ideas.

I buy a lot from this place. They have about everything.
McMaster only has M10x1.5 and M10x1.25, no M10x1.0
It's bloody ridiculous. No one appears to have them within a 250 mile radius.
How about the place you bought the flywheel from?
I seem to remember a recent thread about why flywheel bolts are odd-sized and hard to find.
I personally love this place

Luckily it's in MA so I can do local pickup too...fairly awesome selection.

Other side of the country, sadly. They might get them to me on Saturday if I am insistent enough but it is physically impossible for them to be here tomorrow.
Maryland Metrics looks like it is now the closest place if they live up to their claims "TO OFFER FROM A SINGLE LOCATION, THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF METRIC SIZED PRODUCTS IN NORTH AMERICA."
They're only 160 miles from me instead of 447 for the Fastenal in Napoleon, OH!
We're getting warmer. That's close enough to drive to assuming they are open tomorrow.
Tractor dealerships have always been the secret weapon for quality metric bolts. Deere and Cat and everyone else went metric in the 80s, and guys that buy tractors won't tolerate cheap hardware.
Nissan always uses really fine thread metrics...maybe there is a Datsun guy in your neighborhood with a bolt bucket?
Have you looked in the yellow pages under "fasteners"? Because you'd be surprised at what's around. We have a couple of stores in town that just deal in fasteners for businesses like ours, not chains like Fastenal.
M10x1.0 is a pretty odd thread pitch, certainly not what I'd consider a standard. Unless you like pulling flywheels out more than I do, why not simply put it off for a week or two and let the supplier of the flywheel fix their error with the correct part instead of a random used bit from some Datsun bolt bucket? I know you're all wound up and you really WANT to do it this weekend, but you don't HAVE to do it this weekend.
Have you tried NAPA? They have a pretty good selection. Look for a Fastenal as well.
Psst, read the first post a bit more closely
Yeah, you're kind of f'ed if you want to do it right. Skip everything except for Keith's posts and you'll be set.
i will be up by maryland metric today and then headed across the PA turnpike i am getting on in Breezewood if you want to meet i will be coming thru there about 4pm if that helps but let me know... shoot me a email

My experience has been that Ace Hardware beats Lowes/HD for metric stuff.
Fastenal has them in 8.8 grade or 10.9. If you only need two, I believe the difference in tensile strength between 10.9 and 12.8 is negligible.

Call these guys http://www.boltdepot.com/Default.aspx
Have them fedex next day saterday delivery. Not cheep but if you need them.
Junk yard or local foreign car repair shop bolt bucket?

Yeah I exhausted the 50-mile radius around here between last night and this morning. The main reason I really want it done this weekend is I have ~2000 miles of driving to do over the next 2 weeks and my other vehicle is a lease == $.20 per mile so at this point it looks like I'm getting stuff overnighted for tomorrow. $50 shipping is less than the mileage charges on the lease
Mark's offer is AWESOME unfortunately I'm in the eastern half of the state so meeting up would be the same distance as driving to Maryland.
I appreciate all of the suggestions, will be calling and getting overnight quotes from the few people who list them as in stock in the country. Thanks!
I didn't look to see if they had them, but I sometimes find odd ball stuff at http://www.aircraftspruce.com/
