I spoke with my sister yesterday. She tells me that she thinks her car needs brakes. I have not driven the car but if she "thinks" they need then they are likely long gone.
2012 Ford Focus 2.0L w/ 75k miles (original barkes.)
She lives an hour away but she will be coming to my place over the weekend. I figure front pads and rotors are needed so I will get those. When I look into www.rockauto.com, there are many choices. To me, it is a guessing game of which to get. I usually just don't buy anything "economy". Here is what I am considering. If anyone knows better please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I'd probably get rears too. Only because a couple months ago I went through the same thing, brother said his brakes need replacing I told him come down and I'll replace them thinking it was just the fronts. No, the rears were the ones making the noise and he couldn't tell so he had to keep driving another week until I could get the rear rotors in too.
I've put those power stop z17 pads on my girlfriends car and they are fine, been maybe 10k miles and still got plenty of life left. Stop fine and don't dust which is a plus.
I just did brakes on my wife's '12 a few months ago. I used rockauto, got the front powerstop kit with pads and rotors for $83 before shipping. Centric pads and Pronto rotors for the rear. Everything all in shipped was around $150.
I need to go back in and check one of the fronts, making a grinding noise under certain conditions.
for removing the calipers you need a 7mm allen key. To compress the rear pistons you need to have or rent one of those piston compression tools that twists the piston back in.
Posi-Quiet pads and C-Tek rotors for all 4 corners is what I recommend. Semi-Met if you want better performance, Ceramic if you want less dust and noise.
I have powerstops with centric rotors on my Wife's Mazda2, so very similar car, and very happy with them.
I will repeat what I said in the other thread I just did the power stop bundle from Rock Auto on the mom Beetle all for corners for about $150 seems good so far. I will likely do similar if either of our dailies need brakes soon.
I always buy the cheapest rotors and have never had an issue. I just make sure I've cleaned them well when I install, then bed in the pads really well.
