Didn't see it in the magazine - but was it Clamp Tite? I picked one up at SEMA.

Here's the package I picked up.

Now there needs to a contest for the most ornate safety wire clamp made with one of these. The demo booth at SEMA had some unusual creations.
BTW, the woman we talked to at the show was the daughter of the inventor. It's very much a small family business.
For the cheapskates like me, the $29.95 wingnut one does just fine. That's what I've been using for years.
While you can do the job with any wire, their stainless steel wire works very well and is indeed quite strong. I still haven't finished off the $14.95 small role I bought when I bought the tool. Though I see they now have a multitude of sizes and grades. I suspect I've the 304 wire in the o.041 size.
When I bought mine, they had one wire. They also only had one tool.
How well does it work? The split handle of a well used ballpeen hammer of mine has been holding up to regular use for something like 5-10 years now. In all sincerity, I don't think I've ever had a failure on any wrap I've done with this tool.
The show prices were lower than the online ones There wasn't much difference in the price of the tool and the kit with the (very nice) case and the wire. Holding the various tools in hand, I preferred the one-piece body over the two-piece ones. Probably won't make much difference in the long run, honestly.

Whoops, wrong magazine...

Thanks for the offer, but it's one of those tools that want to have in the toolbox.
Man, I've always wanted one of these things, but I'm always scared of buying stuff like this at shows because it feels impulsy and infomercial-ish.
After looking over their site, I can strongly recommend against buying the wire or kits - just get the tool. McMaster sells safety wire for almost half the price, and I'd be willing to bet it is the exact same brand.
Wow, I never knew I wanted one of these . I could have used this last week when I was trying to press in subframe bushings with plastic sleeves. Regular hose clamp was too wide.
Does this actually replace hose clamps? I have to say, this is new to me.
What is it called and where is the youtube video?
I just ordered the clamptite. That thing is cool, and I think the look of the wire clamps is a lot more appropriate than gear clamps for a lot of the pre-war stuff we do here.
Well, isn't that just slicker than snot on a doorknob. I didn't know I needed one of those until just a few moments ago.
All these new fans just because I happened to lean on (and crack) the little plastic coolant return line on my BMW this afternoon...
I was about to pull the trigger on the kit that Keith linked above, when I happened to remember that I just might have a brand new/old 200' roll of 0.041 stainless safety wire down in the basement...(A $24.95 Value!). So I was able to get away with just the CLT01 tool. I can live without the fancy bag.
$69.95 brand new on eBay with free shipping.

My thinking on the bag was that it would keep the tool and the wire together - makes it easy to toss in the toolbox - and also lessens the chance of punctures I've got a couple of big rolls of wire in two different gauges, so I didn't really need the wire. You guys aren't going to take my GRM license away, are you?

Clamptite or Clamp Tite.

I had figured that this was brand new, but I guess it's been around for quite a while. I read about it couple of months ago in Some Other Magazine and then a few days later, I saw it on one of the garage shows on Velocity. They went to the factory and interviewed the woman who ran the place.
Non-original worm type hose clamps always make things look kind of hacked when I see them under the hood.
