The local reporters were out at the salt pile here in Cincinnati so you know it has to be bad. If you see the weathermen with their suit jackets off then you really know its bad!!!

I know, so disappointing. I'm actually going to have to use that "hater" (spelling?) thing in the E30 that morning.
stuart in mn wrote: We got 16 or 18 inches of snow in Minneapolis yesterday, and then the temperature dropped - the high today was about +5 degrees F, going down to -15 degrees F tonight. I've been outside all day shoveling the walks and driveway, and I'm whipped.
By comparison I guess I have it good. 5" to 6" in my area and a low of +5 tonight. Walked around the yard and I have quite a few branches down from all the heavy snow and ice. Still have power but other people in the area not so lucky. They keep running the video of the Metrodome roof collapsing........you did get hammered.
Not much snow - just windy and a little chilly - it's December near Chicago... pretty much what you should expect. I did get to pull a minivan out of a ditch earlier today.
We are getting hammered! Expecting 30 cm (12 in) of snow, 50 mph winds and right now it is -13 degrees C - wind chills in the -25 or -30 range!
A real blizzard!
An hour up the road in London, they got over a meter last week. We didn't get anything.
I pretty much guaranteed a dry winter by buying a nice sled in the summer

See the previous post. The more you prepare for something the less likely it is to happen.
2 - 3 in this morning... ~ 30° at 7:30.... roads mostly clear by 10am... locals freaking... 90% of the church services cancelled ... like I said the roads were clear....
prediction is for 2 - 4 tonight ... 19° tonight, high of 25° tomorrow with the chance of more (just a little) snow but lows in the low teens...
probably 25% + absentees tomorrow .... hard to understand
oh well the alarm goes off at 5... so it's off to bed for this old fart

sat nite. GTI won't start. Pulled the hated E36 332iS out. Put for snow tyres on it, ASC on, and off to work Good fun. E30 Hater M3 stays indoors.
I'm an E36 M3 hater because I don't think it is the "mostest brilliantest Car Evarrr." Also because I prefer the E30 much more.

In reply to Tom Suddard:
What's that? I haven't had many cars that had anything other than cold air coming from the dash vents.
It snowed on my drive to work. Lots of light fluffy stuff. The ground is now frozen, and I'm really glad I didn't drive the miata today.
It's about 13 degrees outside and my subdivision roads are pure ice. Of course my Subie is in the garage all tore apart.
Typical bad timing.
Coming into work this morning was VERY slick, the snow tires did well enough but the asstraction control was freaking out when I noticed a light grey line in the road about 100yards ahead of me and THEN saw the lights of the 18 wheeler as the truck jackknived in front of me. It will take a week to get that Recaro out from between my butt cheeks but I missed the trailer. Multiple people behind me, however, did not. Ahhh, big fun!
The past three days we've had a boatload of rain, if it were snow you wouldn't see any cars.
I want to move south but the bride won't let go of our victorian museum-maintenence project.

Only got about a half inch on the street I live on. But if I do go to work the trucks tires amount to little more than racing slicks. The bobcat needs to go to the shop and a rental picked up. Think I'll stay home today.
North Central Ohio got around 4 inches. This morning though, we had a 1' drift in front of the door. Very windy with wind chills of -4 this morning. The Cherokee 4x4 with General Grabber at2's has been very good. I had to drive mostly on ice this morning to work.
I drove about 80 miles yesterday in the thick of it in the Escort. Things haven't changed. The Escort is still epically terrible in snow, people still can't drive, and i saw 27 (literally, i counted) accidents yesterday, and was witness of 4 as they happened.
The Cherokee is also nowhere near as good in the crap we had yesterday as i was expecting, though i will reserve total judgement until i get to try it on other surfaces. Snow/slush on top of sheet ice probably won't be real great for ANYTHING, i would imagine.

Left the Exploder home for the wife to drive - jumped into my $495 Subaru and had fun driving to work!
Considering I live what appears to be very close to Stuart in mn- You already saw my weather. I had two choices come sunday morning, dig out the wifes' car, or clean, and then probably have to dig the wifes' car out anyhow. I was smart and dug my car out on Saturday, just in case we had to use something, I'd rather wreck a 100$ Taurus than a not 100$ MINI.

This was my choice, and it was a wise.

I'm not sure, I'm pretty amazed by the Accent with a set of Michelin X-Ice. I was able to comfortably run 55-60 through this stuff. Of course, I slow down a little more for the corners when it's icy. Had to bust through a few 8"-10" snow drifts this morning on my way to work, I just sped up a bit & plowed right through.

It was fine once it got moving, but starting from a stop sign was not near as eye opening as i was expecting. But in it's defense, it was incredibly slippery at my place.
I don't remember what tires are on it. Brand new Wranglers or something.
