As we all know, the GTI is the sporty VW. Sure, there are some pretenders like R32, but GTI is the magic name. And since my Westfalia has a hugely powerful 135 hp Subaru engine, I decided this was appropriate. I figured that if anyone got the joke, it would be you lot. Janel hasn't seen it yet

You know they are repopped in 15X8 and 16X8 5 lug don't you?
Just need adapters to go from 5X112 to 5X100 and good to go.
I never warmed up to the Late westy grill on US spec GTI's so my only other reccomendation on this awesome GTI spec plan is to get this grill and red stripe it for the euro GTI look.
16X8 RML snowflakes, Rocker stripes, satin black bumpers, GTI badging and trim. Winner!

I haven't figured out how to black out the rear window well - there's no indent like there is on the back of the Golf.
Black bumpers, not a bad suggestion. I'll look at that as a possibility. There's also that groove down the side of the bus that could be blacked out for a side stripe. I like working with the contours of the body.
As for wheels, I want a set of AMG Penta or Ronal R9s. Although you can also buy Fuch knockoffs 
VW actually left a nice raised ridge on the stock grille on the van, so it was really easy to do the stripe. Lots of masking, but it looks like it should be there.
Update: the RML Snowflakes are no longer available in a 5-bolt pattern. 4x100 only.
This showed up on The Samba today - blacked window frames. I think it would work well for a GTI theme.

That's not the van that put me on to the Pentas, it was another on the forum. Still looks cool though. They really suit the van. The Audi S4 wheels look pretty good too.
The brown Westie definitely has real Ronals on it. It's hard to tell on the blue one, they may be Enkeis.
