I had an 87 Salon just like this, but it was Midnight Blue Metallic with the 442 appearance package. It came with the gold stripes and the 442 wheels, but not the engine or rear axle like the 442. It had 36k original.
My street-fighter plan for it was a 5.0L windsor, T56, and an 8.8". Thank goodness I sold it or I would be poorer than I am now.

I am bumping this thread because I am looking at a 74 firebird formula 400 and this E36 M3 is inspiring!

anyone know anything more about how to make a coupe deville like that first one both sit like it does and do what it does? any parts swapping available or is it all custom? i've been having dreams about a comfy DD lately that looks ridiculous on the autox course
In reply to WilberM3:
I remember reading the full article on it in Car Craft. Its not a cheap thing to reproduce. It has a caddy 500 (which is an easy thing to do) but the suspension is pretty trick from what i remember.
It was put together by Schwartz Performance who does some crazy street chassis stuff, so (although they don't make a B/D chassis yet) they had access to a truckload of engineering knowledge.
In reply to curtis73:
That's Scwartz's first "major" build, and it had a highly modified chassis. Now he builds complete units, read here. And this is the specs on the Caddy: http://schwartzperformance.com/1982-cadillac-fleetwood-brougham/
i'll have to find that article, thanks. i had a feeling the suspension could be rather, um, unique...
Man this is a good thread. I'm not sure what is better, this or the box flair thread....

I was wondering what pro touring is all about. So far I haven't learned much:-)

So the backend of that truck looks a bit low, but damn that is a sharp truck. First one that made me think: "Yeah, I'd rock that."
