Honestly thats probably a better option. If you look closely in the photo i posted the silver volvo has a plastidiped hood because the flaking clear coat. I guess i suck at plastidipping because it doesnt stay well and kinda wears off. Maybe i skimp on coats? But everything ive "dipped" does the same

MCM did a great tutorial on how to make custom striping out of vinyl. The same technique applies to wrapping an entire hood. If I can find a piece of vinyl big enough, I'm going to do the hood of my truck to cover up the peeling clearcoat.
