Are you a bigger fella? No need to get too specific but you said a miata didnt fit your fancy. Thats what I have daily driven for 8 years, I LOVE the fact I can "haul ass" everywhere without ever breaking the speed limit. So I see what you like there. Ive never driven an abarth but I also share your ideas of driving a slow car fast legally is more fun than driving a fast car slow everywhere fearing you could get arrested otherwise
I'm sort of "big". Only 5'7" but I powerlift so I've pretty wide and 190lbs. I did like the miata, drove two a 2003 (which felt horrible, probably because it was old) and a 2012 PHRT which I liked but felt really vulnerable that close to the ground. I didn't get that feeling in the fiat 500, I think because you sit so high.
I think I agree and it matches my driving style better that driving a slow car fast legally is more fun. As driving the Genesis around today my foot was hardly on the gas. You can even have fun in a crown victoria within the speed limit because of the weight.
I need to try to gutless 2012 genesis again too, maybe the 2013 is just too fast for me.

Okay not that bad, im 5'11"ish around 180 or 190 and drive a na miata.
Do you need a back seat, prefer one or no preference? Im going to try to think of some other cars you might like I think we have similar preferences.
Don't need a backseat at all, but I like the extra room some of them give. 2+2 feel bit bigger and safer to me than true two seaters.

Rx8? I bet you could get a nice one for your price range
Nah, some reason I never liked the Rx8 heh. My friend had one and it was a basketcase.
Test drive the Genesis 3.8 track pack. When I test drove one 4 years ago, my impression was that it was 90% of a 135i for half the price. Also, it's Brembo brakes stopped fast enough to make me car sick.
Also, test drive an Ecoboost Mustang.
Yea, I'm planning on getting into a 3.8 this week.
I drove an ecoboost stang actually, that one was of the first I checked out. There's a good chance that's going to be my next car once whatever I buy now is ready to be traded in. I'll buy a 2016 one or so in 2020.
There are kits to improve the manual significantly

That sensation of "safe because I'm high up" is weird to me. I feel more secure down low knowing my car handles well. I'd say spend a bit more time in a Miata because it really should be the answer to your quest for fun in town but ultimately fairly slow driving.
Yea, I need to re-visit miata now that my price has sneaked up to $16k. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sort of counting the Abarth out due to the depreciation, it will probably sink like a rock. While a Miata should hold its value way better.
In reply to Coldsnap:
Abarth also has really heavily bolstered seats and a pretty rough ride. Also the warranty is relatively short with no CPO program. I love them, but from everything I've read about your desires, it sounds like an Abarth is the exact opposite of what you want.
I drove a friends Abarth and hated it.
You need to drive my Mazda2 as well. It like a slightly higher up just as slow well handling NA Miata. With 4 doors/seats.
Yea, I've heard Abarth is really harsh around town.
I do like the way Mazda2's look. Good looking lil cars. It's got the saddest exhaust pipe too, but sort of charming.

Its funny you said a mustang is a girls car but you want to try a fiat. I say go test drive a power folding hardtop nc miata and see how you like it
I drove this miata while my gf was test driving her mazda 3. I did like it, price was so out of my range I didn't think much about it though.
I always disliked the Abarth because its so high up. Rode in a buddies that was dropped 2" or so and it seemed like a pretty fun little car.
Gotcha, I'd probably like the turbo 500 better. I hear it has a better around town suspension than the Abarth.

I test drove an Abarth this summer, had it for like 4 hours, and did not think it was too harsh. It was a lot of fun.
Interesting looking at these Fiat carfax reports, majority of them had an alignment every 8-14k miles then tire changed every 30k miles. Maybe thought because the Continental tire they come on suck.

If you are looking for a driving experience that you can experience in your day-to-day average commute, get the BRZ or the FRS. The lack of weight and steering response makes for an entertaining drive at any pace.
The Genesis is like the Mustang, entertaining only when you are driving in the danger zone. Otherwise, it just feels and drives like a big heavy car.
I would think that 15k would find you an FRS by now.
I am beginning to believe the Frisbee has become the new Miata to you people. Even when someone says "no, I don't like it" y'all still push it! lol
I don't drink enough mountain dew to own a FRS.
