Yes! RACE CAR!
In all seriousness, I wish that I had more money, space and time. Working from 7 PM to 6 AM is sucking the life out of me. I doubt that I will ever buy a trailer queen, like the ones that are going in Barrett Jackson, but I would buy some fun dailies, and start a couple projects in a decent shop.
It won't necessarily change your taste in cars. It will expand your options and you'll see nothing wrong with a 400k Ferrari squeezed next to a two buck Turbo Dodge.

Perception may change with money, but my logic won't. What's more fun: one $100,000 car, or 100 $1,000 cars? I think the one thing I could spend real money on is a Kent powered MK1 Escort in rally trim.
As someone who has gone down that road to some extent - let's just say that keeping a fleet of 10-11 cars all healthy and happy can be quite frustrating at times. None of them get the attention they deserve so entropy takes its toll. I've got a lineup of cars that need semi-major work that I haven't been able to get to because I've been working on the other cars that need semi-major work. Sometimes it's nice to have one or two good cars.

Agreed...my tastes are already varied enough. For the most part, I would probably buy older, GT and sports cars, say earlier than '73...and wagons/shooting brakes. Exceptions made for GLH's/transplanted Festiva's/Grand Nationals and maybe a Saleen or 2...plus others.
I have no use for a Pagani or Veyron...rather have a turbo Pantera, or a 356 Outlaw, or a DB4GT with a roll bar,or an Allard J2X, or a a 331 Hemi stuffed in an Austin Healey.

Not to mention the expenses related to having a large stable compared to the net benefit of having so many vehicles around. 20 cars? 20 insurance liabilities, 20 registrations, 80 tires to keep in good shape, still only 24 hours in the day to use, and only one car that can be driven at a time.

If I had unlimited funds I'd use it to build the most bitchin' Yugo you've ever seen so, no, I don't think money would improve my taste any.
I didn't ask if it would improve my taste or your taste, but rather would it change it. Many people with money don't have any taste and they prove it every day, but would I suddenly find myself wanting to spend serious lootage on something as stupid as 300k vette? Sorry, I don't see it. Class warfare ain't my thing, but I have seen many a rich man without taste and without class. Still doesn't stop me from reaching for the brass ring.

It would also put you into different circles where you would learn a little class.
You ain't gettin it either my friend, I could read your statement to mean you're accusing me of not having any class, which may or may not be true lol. I learned firsthand money does not give you class... I used to work in college parking cars, a lawyer friend of Bill Clinton used to come to our restaurant and wouldn't tip a dollar to us working stiffs no matter how nice we were. He's in legal trouble in two states and is about to be disbarred. Karma. Had a job at the airport, driving weathy folks two and fro, same deal, you learn quickly that rich are used to getting such treatment and expect it, hence no tippage. Middleclass folks were always the best tippers because they appreciated it more.
Generalizations sure, but true. Getting back to the subject, would I no longer want that mid 90's Mercedes 500e if I could afford a Maybach? I don't know, I just don't know. I'm working two jobs now, starting a business and going to grad school, should I report back in 10 years?

Ok, after scrolling though these posts I think I finally found someone who completes me...
I'd probably have more crappy cars to park beside my daily beater insert expensive car here in my 10 car garage. I would certainly spend more money playing with my cars than I do now. As it stands, I have to scrape together funds for an autocross. If I had money, I'd be far more involved than I am now.
No matter what, I would still find it liberating to drive something that's so beat to piss no one bats an eye when you leave the keys in the ignition because it's not worth the gas to get it to the crusher.
my7 first 2 purchases would be a brand new Z28 and a brand new Z06.. my second purchases would be a pair of Megasquirt setups...
I'd get this:
and this:
and park them next to a motorcycle engined, ground effects Daewoo Lemans racecar and a E39 M5 in my palacial garage.
I would add a building about 40x60 to the Compound and get the damned cars i have sorted and running.
A few more interesting Fords and I could open a Museum.
RS2000 Escort, Cosworth Escort, Lotus Cortina added would make my collection very interesting. Oh and an Aussie GT Falcon like my old one.
I can unequivocally tell you it will. Sometimes not in the way you like either. People expand to their incomes its just one of the laws of life.

don't really think it would change my tastes.... ('course I've been wrong before)
what it really would do is allow me to do many of the things that I've wanted to do and knew there was never going to be a chance to do...
more different cars ... of course ... some ( a few) would be be stupid expensive .... most would be of more modest cost .... the race car I want would be realized not just dreamed about ... someone on tap to help/do the work I can't ... and hopefully teach me some of the things I'd like to be able to do
new home ( ~ 12 - 1500 sq ft) with a detached garage of at least 20k square ft )
doubt that I'd become any more of a shiny happy person than I am now.. would like to think I'd actually bend over backwards to try to be better

No!
Step 1: disconnect battery.

Generally speaking, from what I have seen, money turns wrenching into driving, but your tastes don't really change.
If you've got good taste, having money won't fix that. But if you have bad taste, having money will only make it more obvious to the world

Exactly! I'd pay someone to work on the cars, so I could be out enjoying another while one is getting worked on.
I don't really like working on cars, but I couldn't afford a track-prepped Miata any other way.
At a point you become Jay Leno and have the cars you want and a crew to keep them in shape so you can take Denise Gage out for jaunts around Hollywood.
If I had money it would absolutely impact my car interests,I'm so sick of polishing turds it isn't funny.
Ok now back to the shop for more polishing, the mid engined awd monster geo needs to hit the ice next weekend to see what breaks 1st.

I never claimed to be a good wrench.

I'd have 18 Galant VR-4s but then I'd also have any of the cars that have ever interested me. And a place to do it.
