OK, so this may be a stupid question, but can you run lowering springs with the stock shocks? I have no idea myself, thats why I'm asking, and also, does anyone know anything about Tokico shocks/springs? I had them on my old BMW and they worked fine, and lowered it good, but does anyone know anything about them, they are pretty cheap...
PS- Its an 02 WRX wagon
Thanks!
You can run lowering springs on stock shocks, however you will probably blow them quickly, as they will not be able to handle increased spring rates. I've had my WRX for 6 months now and still haven't been able to weigh through the crap on Nasioc to see what the 'hot setup' is. From what I gather, the WRX suspension doesn't like to be lowered much. There are also some differences between the wagons and sedans.
I have had fair experiences with Tokicko. I feel like I have gotten my money's worth. I like them better than KYB, but not as well as Koni or Bilstein. This is my generic opinion of these brands, and certain spring/shock combos seem to be more popular for specific cars.
Then there is the whole issue of the cheap coilovers, and people have some strong opinions both ways on those. I had a set of Megan Racing coilovers (~$900 including camber plates/spherical mounts) on one of my MR2s, and I thought the quality was top-notch for the price. The dampers weren't perfect, but I thought they were good.
That said, I still haven't figured out what to do with the WRX. One thing that seems unanimous is that aftermarket swaybars are good, and bigger is better.

The problem is that NASIOC includes ALL the knowledge, not just the good/relevant stuff.
