I was following that build for sometime. I've always liked the body style of the LS. Never got to drive one, but the few I rode in was VERY nice. . . . to bad Ford screwed this one up.
The engine wasn't the problem in those cars, it was the fact that you couldn't get a manual with the V8.

I rented a V8 LS once, I really liked it, and would consider owning one. To me it was a poor mans BMW 5 series. It was already mentioned, the problem was the lack of a manual gearbox in the V8, and the "manual sport shift" lever of the auto was bass-ackwards.
FYI, the Lincoln LS used Jaguar XJ suspension systems, and braking.
they wher noted for excellent handling and smooth ride.
and it seems as tho that darnGM LS is showing up in all kinds of vehicles

If the girlfriend and I end up tying the knot within the next couple years, there is a good chance I'll be looking for an LS for her... And then plot to put in an LS
I've been a big fan of the ls v8 for a while now. one of the very few automatic only cars I'd actually like to own.
I actually had a V6 with a manual briefly. It wasn't a bad car, a little slow but it rode well and got ok mileage. It was slower, didn't handle as well, and didn't get as good as mileage as the 1998 528i Sport 5-speed that I got later.
