Turns out that I6's have torque characteristics like diesels. Not much hp but plenty of twisting power.
I agree with your original post, but I am making it my life's work to stop people when they say this and point out that it's a myth.
New thread time about Turbo I6's!

..please don't start one about motorcycles. I can't read enough on the crapper now to keep up. I'm being forced to read at lunch, before I got to bed, all just to keep up. You guys are truly a relentless foe.
don't worry ... as you get older you'll find that the time spent on the crapper tends to grow...
Isn't that due to a human need for peace and quiet and not just from old and well used bowel machinery?
I'll admit it...I bit...but talked my dad into going halfers with me.
Damn good mags both, and I'm really looking forward to my first 'paid for' copy of CM.
Now...if I'd have just noticed the free t-shirt offer before I jumped on the internet and subscribed I'd be a teensy bit happier.
Tim? help a brother out? heehee

I've always re-upped on the net, and have always recieved a t-shirt..(insert thumbs up icon here).
Glad you guys are enjoying Classic Motorsports, too. You'll probably notice some similarities (as well as some differences).

All I have to add to this conversation is that would be a KILLER band name
Yah, my first thought was, "Cool, my new GRM is here!"
Then I took the cover off and found it wasn't. I saw the cover story and paged through. Then I screamed "Suddard!" (ala Capt. Kirk "Kaaahn!") as I realized what a great mag it is.
If I could get the 10 years for $99 subscription I'd probably HAVE to get one.
I read them both cover to cover, now I have added 3 restorations to my collection, I thank you, but my wife... not so much
Not only has the free issue got me contemplating a 10yr subsciption, but Tim's 'Ship Shape Shop' article article has me realizing what a E36 M3-hole my garage has become. Thanks so much for that Tim!
I was subscribing to Classic Motorsports before I was subscribing to GRM. And if I am honest, I read CM first.

The half naked MG as your sig picture kind of gives that away.
Contributed another $99 to Tim and his crew. Now I'm in for a 10yr subsribiption to both GRM and CM... Guess their free issue/marketing strategy worked!

David, when people ask me what CM is like, I tell them that it's "what the GRM would guys do if they had a little more money, but were still cool about where to spend it".
Good example was that article in the Jul 2011 issue about hooking up the B-series MG engine to the dyno to compare exhausts.
Better one was finding & restoring the old Gp.44 GT-6. I almost get angry every time a great old Club Racing car shows up on Bring a Trailer, and half of the comments are about what it would take to make the damn thing a street car again. Why don't any of these wonderful old warriors ever get any respect?!?!
Oh, I almost forgot..in CM, they often do. I'll buy that for $24 bux a year..

EDIT: My memory is hazy..did Tim get the TR-3 before or after y'all bought "British Car"? Personally, I think the reason he did so well with the GT-6 project was because he'd previously brought an old club race car back to life..
I found the free issue to be funny, only because I already have a ten year subscription to both magazines. Though my long term CM only started this January. Gave the free issue to a friend, hopefully it results in a subscription of it's own.
I think the mailman must have stolen mine.

As I grow more mature, I find myself reading more magazines like Classic Motorsports, and less like "Carp and Drivel". After the 300th road test of the Unobtanium ZLXR 30 that only ran for 15 feet I gave up.

Pretty sure the TR-3 predates CM by a fair amount.
Yes, Tim was racing the TR-3 for a few years before we launched Classic Motorsports.
The TR-3 has actually been a race car since 1960. The PO raced it in the Daytona Continental races way back when. Tim has some really cool photos of it around the office.
In reply to Joe Gearin:
That's a great old car. I love how he kept the original hand-painted numbers on it.

I used to subscribe to both... GRM only now... might be why no "free" CM
Yeah, I'm going to subscribe. Even though the GRM is closer to my interests, I do have a passing interest in Classics and have enjoyed the few articles I've read!
Glad you guys are liking Classic Motorsports. Our next few project car are Per's BMW 2002, the Corvair turbo we have been playing with, a 67 Mini Cooper S, a couple of 70s Alfas, and for you American car lovers, I just made the ultimate sacrifice for our readers and dragged home a rough, but drivable 67 Shelby GT 350.

Cool! I owned one of those years ago. I'd like to own one again.

After reading how much you liked the Shelby in the 60's hits article, I am not surprised in the least. Still, as I pointed out on the CM forum, I would love to see your reaction to a 63 Z06 Vette as a real comparison to the Shelby.
