The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X may have been discontinued in 2015, but there are still nine other generations of Evo to experience–most of which weren’t officially sold here in America.
This Mitsubishi Evolution IV GSR is one such example, though has already been imported into the U.S. and now carries a New York title.
Currently showing some 209,200 kilometers (approximately 129,990 miles), …

I hate to admit that a JDM car already imported into the U.S. has a lot of added value.
It's really not too hard to import one plus if you do it right, you get a cool car shopping trip to go find the right one. I have a 6 sitting in a garage awaiting import because I love the 6 more.
You'd be a star at the next RADwood event with that one. And at $5,000 it's a steal! Maybe I'll drop a $5,010 bid...you know, just to separate the men from the boys.
Great, I didn't need to see this.
Now I've gone from "I have to sell a vehicle or two" to watching two auctions.
Currently at $6000. What do we think it will hammer for?
Just looking closer at the photos, and it’s a bit rustier than I first envisioned.
If the price is right, do you care?

Sounds like a project with the laundry list of stuff wrong with it, specifically the rust:
- Paint chips, scratches, and blemishes around the exterior (some are touched-up)
- Headlight and fog light lenses are cracked
- Low-beam headlights are inoperative, possibly due to incorrect bulbs installed
- Previous rust repair performed on areas around the side skirts
- Scratches on the wheels
- Creases and wear on the seats
- Wear on interior touch points and trim panels; peeling door panel upholstery
- Drill hole on the driver-side A-pillar
- Rust on the doors, fuel filler area, trunk floor, hood latch, and underbody
- The seller reports that one of the wheel bearings emits an intermittent noise, the clutch chatters at low speeds, there is a slow leak in the air conditioning system, and the AYC warning light stays illuminated due to a faulty ABS sensor.

Probably more than it should be given the rust and the comparatively high mileage.
I'm guessing mid-teens.
In reply to calteg :
Given the visible rust holes, to me it doesn't only sound like a project.
IIRC these weren't the most rust resistant cars in the first place, and this looks a bit "rode hard and put away wet"

Anyone in Europe want to hold onto a Evo VIII wagon for me for, say, the next 5 years until they become legal to import?
In reply to calteg :
I have a few good friends who are living in Germany and England for the next 4-5 years.
In reply to calteg :
You can park yours next to mine. $100 a month and they change the fluids once a year, wash it, and start it every week.

Evo IV GSR should top out at $18k or so.
You can find a solid Evo V GSR for under $30k still.
In reply to LanEvo :
Agreed. I just looked at a 4 in better shape than it sounds like that one is in for 13K landed in LA + customs. 30K will get you a really clean 5 or 6.

I am expecting stupid.
I pretty much expect that you're not going to be disappointed.

Henry Joy used to rally one in the SCCA series. I still have a bunch of posters of this car stored in my closet. (Copyrighted photo not embedable)

Pretty sure it still exists, parking in his garage in Michigan with probably 20 Land Rovers.
Currently at $9800 with like 16 hours to do, and I admit that I made my first comment–the –before I saw all the rust. Blame Gran Turismo.
Damn. Really looked at the pictures and It's already overpriced at $9800. That is basically a parts car. I would not want to push that thing.

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by Gran Turismo.
10.3k now.
I think if one was looking for a base for a Time Attack build, this might be a half decent car, but there are definitely better base cars out there. OTOH if you're pulling it apart completely to seam weld it, throwing new rocker panels on it (assuming you can get them) is less daunting.
But given how the undercarriage looks, I'd be worried that the bottom of the shell might be held together by the rocker covers.
