The lengthy rebuild of the $100 '95 CR80 is complete. Was going to sell it but I really like it & have done way to many custom things to it.
Had it running after replacing the piston & having it sleeved. The machine shop didn't bevel the ports. They are suppose to be a reputable shop & I didn't check. It ran for @30 seconds, broke the ring & blew out both crank seals.
Decided to take the motor completely apart since the water pump was leaking & the crank seals looked crispy.
Replaced every seal & any bearing that was questionable.
While waiting for parts I did lots of custom things to make it more suitable for my size.
Built up the seat using cosplay foam & a sanded vinyl, added handle bar risers, rebuilt the wheels, replaced the crusty head stem bearings & seals, installed heavier front springs with 10wt oil, got a heavier hyper coil rear spring & sent off the rear shock for rebuilding & revalving, upgraded to a 428 chain, adapted a CRF230 chain guide, added gear shifter, brake lines, front & rear brake levers & master cylinder from  a CR85RB. Some of these are for converting to a big wheel 19" & 16". I'll be extending the rear swing arm 2" to make room for the larger rear wheel.  Also lowered the foot pegs 1.5" for more legroom.
Started the motor today & it runs great. Compression should be fairly high because the cylinder was cleaned up a little on top & the head also.  Using 93 non-ethanol & will be checking the compression to know for sure.
Also added a reed cage spacer & a head pipe spacer to lower hit a bit. Tried to find a flywheel spacer but non exist anymore for this older generation.
Also will be attempting to add a light coil & or small Li-ion battery & led light.
Now just waiting for the rear shock to arrive.

I have a similar project at the moment, and knowing what Honda is like, it may even have the same frame.

How did you lower the pegs?

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess the pic wasn't loading earlier.

My 18 month old has a CRF70, courtesy of Uncle Casey. Carb needed a deep cleaning and needles tweaked. Watching this because the boy won't be riding this scoot for another few years and dad wants a dirt squirt.

In reply to Mr. Peabody :

I just went & took pics & posted them. Basically 1/2" aluminum plate. Made almost like J plates/hooks, drilled 10mm holes & bolted to the existing hole for the pegs, got some used CRF150 pegs since they work better for this, drilled 10mm holes & I think I used the CR80 pins since they are a bit longer than the CRF's, used the CR80 springs. Then drilled & tapped for a 5/16 bolt for stop & the spring. They work better than expected & still has a functioning spring.

Another thing I did was took a chance on a Chinese Keihin PE28 carb because the original slide is really worn & the slide guide pin is worn to nothing, float bowl gasket is brittle & the choke detention didn't hold either.
Took them both apart to compare everything.
The Chinese needle is really small in diameter & would cause a really rich transition.  Also the needle doesn't have grooves for different clip positions. The main jet looks to use a Mikuni main jet. The pilot jet is the same type.
Moved the original needle to the Chinese slide & it is good. Was able to cut the Chinese main jet base adapter shorter to screw the original main jet into it. Threads are the same. Moved the jets over to the Chinese body & all looked good.
The Chinese body doesn't have the threaded port on the bottom to be able to change jets without removing the float bowl. It also doesn't have the baffle for the jets. Hopefully this isn't an issue. It does have a big knob for the idle adjustment which is good. I wish it had a knob for the air screw. The original didn't have the air screw knob either though.
Installed it, turned the gas on. No leaks so choked it & it started right up. Turned off the choke & it idled nicely. After it warmed up, adjusted air screw a bit & the idle. So far the carb is a huge win for only $35.

I noticed things like that on the carb for the CM200T and a chineseium replacement from Ebay. Externally  identical. Internally, nothing swapped. I wanted to make a frankencarb using the best of both.  Stayed with the OE.

Spoke too soon about the Chinese carb. Took it apart to go a bit smaller on the pilot jet & one side of the float has gas in it. Put the real Keihin float in it.

I'm sorry, just no on the fake carbs.

Ya they are refunding me. Without needles it's impossible to tune the midrange. First they asked if the float was installed correctly.  surprise  I gave a lengthy reply on that one.
After changing jets, has great idle, 1/8 throttle & wot but in between is not good & impossible to tune without needles.   Tried the oem needle & everything was way off.
Found a new never used Honda 28 PWK that Honda switched to in '05 for the CR80 & CR85.
Now I can use tuning & needle data that others have actually done. Ordered 3 needles & 1/2 step washers. Already have a wide range of jets.
My KDX200 38PWK was a great carb. But that one also had the RB-Designs mods.

Installed the head lights - waiting for the Li-Ion 18650 cell battery from China - shipping shows it's in LA.
Also found this kickstand on eBay. Nice piece & was sold as used, was still in the sealed plastic bags. A little bit of dremel grinding & it bolted right up to the subframe mounting point.
