I know its not new but I would love to get some seat time on this. I am a cruiser guy but something about a motard just makes me feel like I am 16 .

I haven't ridden one yet, but a friend was very very happy to get rid of his......then again, said friend also beats the E36 M3 out of things.

I heard or read something about them using it as a base for an entry level racing series. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near any good twisty roads so it doesn't really fit my environment at the moment. If I was still in east TN I would be very excited about it.
I've also been waiting for KTM to actually make the RC390 and or the Duke 390 available in the USA. KTM has formally announced it would be here soon for several years.

I've pretty much given up on either the RC or Duke 390 making it here. I was very interested when they were initially announced years ago, but I now consider them as vaporware in the US...

Pretty sure it's coming. From November; KTM announced today that the RC 390 and 390 Duke will be coming to America, with an MSRP of $5,499 and $4,999, respectively.

That Indian looks just right if I were in the market for a cruiser. American, but not Harley. It looks old school, clean and modern all at the same time. I think they did a great job on it.

KTM announced the 390 Duke was coming to America in 2012 when they first showed it at EIMCA (the big European motorcycle show). IIRC, it showed up in Europe that same year. Every winter they reiterate that it's coming to America and it still isn't here so I will be surprised if it ever jumps the pond. Maybe I'm cynical, but they keep announcing it and never following through so I think it's just PR BS trying to generate interest in a brand that has a very limited group of street models and very small sales #'s for street bikes.

Probably less than half of the KTM dealers even carry the street line. I read a couple of years ago (think it was 2012 also) that KTM was reorganizing it's dealership network and separating the street and off-road lines. This change would require a dealer that wanted to carry both lines to inventory more bikes and the street bikes weren't selling very well. Many of the dealers that sold mostly off-road dropped the street lineup because they would lose money inventorying street bikes they would have to discount to or even below their cost to sell.

I stopped into the local KTM dealer a couple months ago and was disappointed to see that they didn't have any street bikes.

I have sat on both a RC390 and a Duke 390 last week. They're coming to Canada 100%. The western Canada rep for KTM kept trying to goad me into putting a deposit down on a Duke 390. MSRP in Canadian for the RC is $5399 and for the Duke is $4999.

Also, the Rep claims that KTM North America will be releasing 2 "new" bikes every year for the next 4 years. Sadly, the KTM booth was sold out of toasters or it'd be fully team orange right now.

Hmmmm- Isn't the U.S. dollar worth 1.24 Canadian now?

That would make the cost of the Duke $4031 US??

If that's really the situation we need to understand what restrictions there are on bringing a new bike from Canada to the USA.

Our importation fees here in the states are probably higher, plus we have a larger buying base.....so they'll try fleecing us anyways.

Been looking at road glides again. One of the local dealers had a Honda interstate with bags on the lot. Apparently you can do hard bags extend the frame and do a fairing for about 2.1K painted and you end up with this.

It needs to look like this stock, minus the hideous large wheel up front. i

I hate the big wheel trend. Especially on road glides.

I do like that I can get a used interstate for 5-6K do the fairing and extension for 2K and have something that should do better MPG and have ABS then a street glide or road glide and be half the cost of a modern Harley.

I thought the average injected Road Glide would pull around 50 mpg on the highway. Is an Interstate really that much better, or are you figuring on lower numbers from the HD?

Gas mileage is one area I wish my VFR matched some of the Harley offerings. One of the very few but it's still there.

But it wouldn't work as well as before you began the modifications.

What were you getting with the VFR? IIRC I got between 37 and 55 depending on asshattery level with my '96 750.

My GSA never waivers much from 38-44 no matter what I do to the right grip or how much crap I pile on it.

About 40mpg on my VFR800 VTEC. Maybe 43 or 44 on highway trips, about 39 or so around town. I'm not much of a hoon on the bike.

In all honesty I'm not much of a hoon either - but I almost never consider mileage. I put it in a gear where I have squirt to get out of trouble so I'm always in the fat of the power band. The VFR only ever got over 50 in 6th gear on the highway with no passenger or luggage and pretty reasonable speed for the whole tank.

Well, the 10r is rolling at about 5k rpms at 80mph, and I can get about 40mpg out of it if I'm on 55 limit roads and not having fun.....but I like having fun. It'll probably get worse yet after the reflash and PC3+ignition module+quickshifter is installed.

The Raptor does at best about 25......it smokes like a diesel then gives you a brilliant massive fireball out the side when you lift off from deep in boost.
