2015 Mustang Pricing
The base Ecoboost is about $1500 more than the base V6. Not too shabby
Not too shabby. I imagine the "GRM Package" looks like this:
Mustang ECOBOOST Fastback (100A) - $25,995
Recaros $1595
ECOBOOST Performance Package (67E) $1995
~$29,585
Under $30K. Not too shabby. Granted there's destination/delivery fees/Dealer BS, etc. to negotiate but I don't need/want adaptive cruise and moonroof and nav and "pony projection lights" blah blah blah.
I wonder what the actual performance difference will be between the Ecoboost and V6? Isn't it projected to have roughly the same power and roughly the same MPG? Will it be worth the extra $$$? Also, I'm afraid that most of the GRM crowd won't find the Recaros comfortable at all, unless they are a lot different than the ones currently offered. The real world mileage I'm getting in my Focus ST is around 24mpg. It can do better, but it is a real pain to shift that early and drive that slow all the time.
In much the same way that alot of people are loving the Fiesta ST and choosing it over the Focus ST, even though the Focus is technically faster and more powerful, I can see the 2.3T having more appeal over the V6 in a similar fashion.
Yes out of the box the #'s on paper are roughly the same, but the 2.3T likely gives you a bit less weight, and likely more on tap potential with a tune or mods. All a bit speculative at this point I suppose.
It's still a bit staggering that we live in a world where the base v6 "secretary edition" Mustang or 4 banger model makes over 300HP.
They say the 2.3T makes "more than" 305hp/300lbft vs the 3.7 V6 at 300hp/270lbft. I'd hazard a guess that the 2.3T will be officially rated at around 309-312hp. I wonder how it will compare to the 3.7 in seat-of-the-pants feel. I hope its not all top end power. Hopefully it will be tuned to have a meaty midrange and gobs of low end torque. I think that will make the most difference versus a handful more horsepowers than the V6.

I liked the Fiesta ST when I test drove it, but I couldn't justify paying more for it than the Focus ST.
Online configurator is up:

Build away. I'll take mine in base 6-speed manual Ecoboost with Performance Pack & Recaros in Guard Green.
Also, the new weights have trickled out. The GT gained 90lbs., but the Ecoboost manual car at a touch over 3500lbs. is impressive in my book for what it is.
As reliable as Jalopnik can be anyways...

Any word on how the weight is distributed front to rear?

I thought all the rumors were that the S550 chassis was going to lose a few hundred pounds.
That's a big disappointment.

I guess what happened is that some source that was never confirmed claimed that.....then edmunds ran with it for the sake of website hits. I'm kinda disappointed by same weight, but I'm also glad it didn't go up E36 M3loads.
Competition Orange GT, manual, track pack, wing delete and Recaros
Power numbers were just released:
GT - 435hp/400ft. lbs
2.3T - 310hp/320ft. lbs
V6 - 300hp/280ft. lbs
They downrated the V6 by 5hp, no doubt to widen the margin between the EB and V6.
I hope the EB sounds good (ala Fiat 500 Abarth).
