He had to be fired, I don't think I've seen a worse late game decision, or at least that i can remember off hand.
Maybe Ezekiel Elliot playing center ?

what kind of owners have him do his day after press conference and then AFTER that issue a statement that he was fired... The bears are an entirely broken franchise.

It's always too bad to see someone get fired in the middle of the season. But he earned it, sadly.

It actually is something of a surprise. The Bears have never fired a head coach midseason before. Yes, that is a very dumb tradition to have maintained, but it has been maintained quite steadfastly through a lot of stupidity.

Dollars to donuts, they hadn't decided to fire him until after that presser. By that I mean that Poles and Warren had not yet convinced McCaskey to allow them to fire him.
And these are the same owners that
They're well liked people and loyal, but holy cow are they bad at business and football.
There is a report that Poles wanted to fire Eburflus after the Patriots game but the Family wouldn't let him
In reply to Iusedtobefast :
I believe it. Despite Poles' advocacy to keep Eberflus this past offseason, he really seems to be immune to the sunk cost fallacy in his signings and trades. No reason to think he'd be any different with the HC.

Poles deserves some of the blame. The defensive line has no depth, and hasn't been able to get pressure going all the way back to the sweat trade. The offensive line (something he promised to fix) is still fundamentally broken. I have heard on good authority that Nick Allegretti who was born and raised in Chicago wanted to play for the bears and offered to come here for less money than he got /w the Commanders but they declined and instead went with Ryan Bates who they paid more money to and has been hurt all season.
We can praise him for the DJ Moore / Panthers trade but lest we forget that Roquan Smith trade and Chase Claypool trade.
11 in a row. Defensive has barely enough players left to field that side of the ball. Playoff berth clinched.
Go Lions!
In reply to Ranger50 :
To hold GB to 31 was pretty impressive- these new guys are fitting in pretty well.
7 guys who played on defense last night weren't even on the team in September. Hell of a job by Aaron Glenn.
DOINK
Chiefs keep finding new ways to keep it interesting. Pretty soon they'll be winning by half a point.
Any predictions on what Jerry Jones is going to do...? Assuming he doesn't step down and hire a legitimate GM, I think he's got to blow up the entire team and start with a completely clean sheet of paper. IMHO McCarthy's been hamstrung with Jones' decisions but the fan base has no faith in McCarthy and I think a bunch of the players have lost faith in the franchise.

Jerry Jones will do what Jerry Jones has always done. Unfortunately that's what's wrong with the Cowboys right now. IMHO he needs to step down and hire a legitmate GM, and get out of everyone's way.
In reply to stroker :
he's going to rehire McCarthy for sure. Any question in my mind about McCarthy was answered when they signed Dak to that enormous deal the day of the first game of the season

Agreed, Jerruh will stay the course. And honestly, this is a team that won 12 games in 2022 and 2023, they aren't a completely hopeless franchise like the Lions were pre-Campbelll and Holmes. Or like the Jets are now...
I'm surprised they aren't seeing what Lance can do.
I've never been impressed by him but he's a free agent next year and they gave a good draft pick for him
In reply to Antihero :
i think he's looked so bad in practice that Jerruh isn't willing to have the cowboys look that bad on TV, thus the continued starts for Cooper Rush
I'm kinda surprised the bears didn't go after him really.
I'm also very surprised he went to college ball too though
Apparently his dad coached at UNC and LT (his favorite player ever) went to UNC, and he's bringing his son with him as the heir, so there's some strong family ties going on there
