Oh and BTW - Air Canada seems to take a perverse satisfaction in seating the 2 largest people on a flight right beside each other
I know because I will be one of them.

What the hell are you guys flying on that has seats that recline so far?
Nothing I've been on has more than a few inches of travel...at the head rest.
90 percent of you berkeleyers have flown before and you know god damned well that your carry on bag is too big and even though they will let you put it on the plane, you're taking up way more than your fair share. You know this and do it anyway. You're a dick. Buy a smaller suitcase and pack less.

I'm a little taller and a little heavier... I rode Greyhound for 12 hrs to go pick up my car from another GRMer a few years ago... I spent MANY hrs on a jet within the year before (flying to central america and then all over Europe)... the greyhound had more room, was more comfy... and outside of one trip from Spain to France the passengers smelled better.
on the jet I rode with my kids... for leg room no matter how I sat my knees dug into the seat in front of me... the fire isle would be ideal but that's a no no with kids :-/ instead I just had to suffer for hr after hr.
funny thing is I was told that Easy Jet in the EU was trying to get it so that it would be legal for people to stand while flying so they could fit more people on the jet... it sure was cheap though.
as for carry on... if the company says ONE carry on they mean it... getting onto a plane in Norway I couldn't fit my families two carry ons (of 4 people) into the overhead compartment because no one else bothered bringing only one... they forced me to check it underside... we had a connecting flight and just about missed it because I had to go out of security to baggage claim and then go back though security and then run across the airport to catch the flight.

In my case it was an old DC-9, but like I said it was a number of years ago. Probably more like 20 years ago, not ten.

You can already do that, economy plus on united has plenty of legroom for me, fly enough and they give it to you free
Oh yeah, I'm currently on a delay in Newark, guy next to me kept trying to sleep on my shoulder so I had to nudge him a couple times. The seats have gotten a bit better in the last couple years, back when I first started traveling for work, I couldn't fit my knees in front of me in the seat.

Also free booze over the Atlantic.

Oh, hi!
I don't fly any other airline because frankly, these guys are worth it. No BS bag fees or other crapola, easy peesy to check in and get good seating, actually friendly staff, and they're always on time. Not to mention they fly at normal times, none of this 2:43 AM take off BS. I've flown every major US airline multiple times and Southwest the last 6. Never had an issue with SW.

To be fair, this is your typical plane:

Lufthansa FTW!
I'm glad that they're finally making fat people pay for two seats. Keep your fat rolls to yourself, please.

Actually I mostly fly commercial to and from The War™.
Last time I hopped a 17 ride I travelled in style:

That space belongs to the guy in front of you, not you. If he allows you to use it, that's a win, but that he will use it should be the expectation. Likewise, the space your chair uses belongs to you.
