As mentioned in Javelin's job thread from last week, I was laid off this past Friday afternoon from the company I worked for due to some restructuring. I worked in the lighting and electrical industry doing sales/customer service for a manufacturer. My previous experience includes sales, customer service and being a vendor/field service rep in the home improvement industry. I am located in Southeastern Pennsylvania about an hour north of Philadelphia. If anyone knows of any leads or works for a company that is hiring, please let me know and send it my way!
I hate to hear that. Hubble Lighting has a huge new office building in Greenville, SC. I have no idea if they are hiring, but see the link.

different kind of lighting.. but look up Starlight in Moorestown NJ. They do theatrical lighting, video, and sound
Honestly, see if a Lowe's in your area is hiring. You'd be a shoe in for the department manager or pro position.
There are some Lowes positions nearby. I applied for a pro position last year and didn't qualify for it after taking the online test for the position.

Thats nuts, I had close to zero experience (I can figure stuff out easy), and was a sure thing. Its a great company to work for.
Everybody wish me luck. I have an interview later this morning for a position with a millwork distributor.
This is sort of an update but I have had two other interviews besides the one for the millwork distributor. One was at a car dealer as an inventory coordinator and the other was for an electronics distributor doing inside sales/customer service. Both involved second interviews and both told me they would get back to me by the end of the week (today) with a decision. I haven't heard from either. I also received a call from the millwork distributor this morning with an offer for the position. It would be the farthest commute (60 miles round trip a day) but the salary is good and there is opportunity for growth and advancement. Do I call the car dealer and electronics distributor and let them know I have an offer on the table to get some leverage or just take the millwork job at this point?
Ask millwork to give you until Monday to decide, and if you don't hear from the other two, you have your answer.
In my experience, employers don't get back to you (after an interview) because they are busy or trying to make a decision or distracted. A call shows that you are interested and forces them to make a move. If they are just being douchenozzles and not following up with a no, then you don't want to work there anyway.
I spoke to the person I interviewed with @ the dealership and they are pretty close to sending me an offer for that position. I called the electronics distributor this morning and just got off the phone with them again and the hiring person is in meetings all day and no one knows when they will be available.
I heard from the hiring person at the electronics distributor yesterday and they wanted me to come in for a third interview (not sure why) and it potentially might be more than a week out. I contacted the dealership regarding the position and they got right back to me and offered me the position and discussing it with Mrs. Dx, this seems more in line with what I would like to do (working with cars that is) so I accepted the position and I will be starting next week.
My official title is going to be inventory pricing coordinator. I am going to be responsible for keeping track of pricing and information gathering for all of the used cars between a couple locations under a dealer umbrella and working with management of the dealerships. It is a marketing position in a nutshell.
