I listen to a lot of music, every day. If I'm doing something and can have music going, I do. Most often it's playing on Pandora or Amazon Prime, and while they are both pretty good, it doesn't take too long before the selections start to circle back on themselves and get repetitive.
The style(s) of music I like the most are all pretty much related to heavy metal in some way or another. I don't play the genre game though- not only can I not keep up with what they are, there may be only one band I like in a genre of many, or a genre with an unappealing name that I really dig. Much like ice cream, I'd rather be able to try them all and then decide what I like after.
In the vein of the old Disturbed and Korn thread I was thinking we could share bands here that we've been listening to, be they newer, older, in-between, or Neu-Alt-Core-Viking-Multiplication-Metal.
So what are you listening to that you've been digging on?
I've been listening to a lot of Motörhead lately.
Along with a fair amount of Tool, and a splash of Iron Maiden.
Sabaton, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Red Fang.

When I work in the Batcave, I usually have the four best Slayer albums (Reign in Blood to Divine Intervention) playing in order. Or some hour long metal/breakcore/WTF mashup tracks that I downloaded from YouTube a while back and have since been deleted.
I built the engine currently in teh RX-7 almost exclusively to The Kleptones' "Uptime" album. The big street port Turbo II engine I built a few years earlier was built mostly to Fear Factory.
I think the key thing for working music is that it is familiar and has a driving beat all the time. Familiarity keeps you from being distracted by it, while the driving beat keeps you energized. I think this is a good reason why DOOM music was based on already kickass metal.
So, of course, metal based on DOOM should be so familiar that it fades into the background.
Any speed metal recommendations? I need music that makes me want to drive fast and break E36 M3.

I listen to a lot of metal, but I don't know what you like so I'm going to take a little bit of a shotgun approach with my favorites and categorize them by a vague genre I think they might be, even though that doesn't matter to you, because otherwise it's just a totally random grab bag of stuff. I also like a lot of the older Tool. Therapy is a pretty interesting group although older. I also throw some NOFX and Bad Religion in as well for some punk.

Not metal, but I love me some offspring.
NOFX did the coolest stunt I have ever seen at a concert: after a song the lead singer needed to switch guitars/basses so he and a crew person got on opposite sides of the stage, and threw the guitars at each other. The both went way up in a huge arc, passed at the top, and the both caught then at the same time. I don't know how someone even throws a guitar that far, much less with such accuracy and synchrony.
Honestly, I'm a little less metal than some of the bands listed here, but our local hard rock station is pretty dang good. It's free to listen:
It wasn't my regular shift, but while in school sometimes I got to be the substitute DJ for Loud Fast Rules. Best two hours on radio. Anyway, some suggestions from my own heavy rotation:
Anthrax: Personally I'm a bigger fan of the John Bush era. Check out The Greater of Two Evils for his take on Anthrax standards.
Black Sabbath: Everyone should at least have the first album.
Body Count: Still pissed I missed them live in '92 or whenever.
Bonded By Blood: Check them out. They've been touring with some A-list bands lately.
Clutch: Earth Rocker is still one of the best albums ever.
D.R.I.: Metal meets punk.
Concrete: My cousin's band! Hardcore from Albany.
Death: Pro-punk from Detroit. A+.
Death Angel: Just classic thrash metal. Relentless Retribution is a great album.
Fu Manchu: Kinda sludgy, kinda stoner.
GWAR: Not sure it's that metallic.
Iron Maiden: Still my go-to.
Jimi Hendrix: Everyone here has Are You Experienced, right?
Judas Priest: Another go-to.
Living Colour: Not metal but still should be in everyone's collection.
MC5: Kick Out the Jams is another staple.
Metallica: Yeah, gotta have those first four albums. And, hey, they're playing Lincoln during Solo Nats!
Misfits: Classic American punk.
OFF!: More classic punk from Keith Morris.
Porn Orchard: Sludgy Athens band from late '80s.
Ramones: Another classic go-to.
Rush: Are they metal? Not sure but still love 'em--up through the latest release.
Slayer: Seasons In the Abyss is my go-to.
Soundgarden: Check out King Animal. I think it's as good as their early stuff.
Suicidal Tedencies: More crossover. First album is a bona fide classic. In the '90s they went more metal.
The Sword: Killer sludge. Check out Apocryphon.
Testament: Dark Roots of Earth might be my favorite.
Tool: All killer stuff.
Van Halen: Not metal, but love the early stuff.
War on Women: Saw them open for Flag, and they killed it.
The Who: If not for The Who, would we have metal as we know it?

It's not metal, but check out anything featuring Keith Morris on vocals. We saw Flag a year or so ago. It was so good I drove across the state the next day to see them again.

These are all mostly instrumental bands, on varying points of the fusion-prog-metal spectrum. LTE features John Petrucci (guitar) and Mike Portnoy (percussion) of Dream Theater teamed up with Tony Levin (bass) of King Crimson fame, and the keyboardist from the Dixie Dregs. They're good if you are in the mood for long jammy shredders who can also actually compose instead of just playing chromatic scales with robotic speed and precision.
Particle and Ozric Tentacles are slightly dancier (?), funkier jam bands, but coming from the prog side of the house rather than the Dead / Phish / moe. side of the house. God Is An Astronaut is a little more ambient and Galactic is, of course, Galactic; basically funk/fusion.

A bit slower and heavier(and really berkeleying hard to find) but Lunatics on Parole made some great stuff too.

I've seen them live due to their association with other bands two or three times now, but haven't managed to really get into them- I'll listen to an album occasionally but they never make their way into my regular rotation for some reason.
