so, I have a this. This is the last remaining piece of my dad's (then mine, then theoretically my kids except my ex sucks, so I gave it to SBF instead, because I'll never use it) train set. I've always been told this car is relatively special, but I dont know much. I do know it's at LEAST 40 years old, I'm 42 and this thing has been around as long as I can remember, and I suspect it is much older. I'm not trying to be a value but if it's worth more than it should be I'll probably store it a little nicer than I do now. What exactly am I looking at, why was my dad stoked on it when I was super young, and now what do I do with it?
Animated cop and robber gondola. 1957-59. The figures are on a belt that moves around and around allowing the cop to chase the robber.
Tandem-Associates Info
Ebay lists them at about $50 ish with the box and in working order. I'd keep it. If it works, should work with any set.

He was probably excited because the cop chases the hobo around.

Doesn't look to be worth a ton of money (maybe like $60-$80 since you have the box?) but the police officer chases the hobo around the car when it's in motion which is pretty dang neat.

Well, that was easy. Cool to know it's that old.
Great, now I'm off to ebay...
What is the Erie reference? to the Lake, City, or G.E. Locomotive?
Lionel puts the build date right on the car--Feb. 1957 in your case.

Neat! So it's one of the older ones of the old ones at that.
Got any pics of the rest of the set?
