My answer to them is always the same. Get a Miata. They would just look at me funny and have a WTF expression on their face. I tell them really and to look it it up. They still don’t believe me and I end up being a a-hole by default.

He also might have gone to a Dodge dealer to look at the used Grand Caravan and got suckered into a truck by a salesman less helpful than you were.
Last year I got a new answer to the question:
"Now that we have a CarMax in town, why don't you go there and have a look around."

I think basically this is why none of them listen to me.
I tell them "All new ars are just computers with wheels. I know nothing about computers hence all the computer questions I ask YOU." (All my friends are very tech savvy)
I stopped this years ago. If they do by the car you recommend and something goes wrong or they hate it you get blamed. If they don’t get what you recommend and it does not work out and or they hate it it is your fault.
Ya I am so done with that. And doubly applies to anyone related to me.

Oh but thats where you're wrong. They changed the name to Sonic.
I believe the name you're looking for is Versa.
Nah, versas aren't nearly as terrible as an aveo
Aveos are terrible. Versas are slightly nicer. The Sonic is actually pleasant to drive and reliable. There's one in my driveway.
I hear tell that the sonic rs is quite the ripper with a flash. I've been watching them for a while.
There isn't a great deal of difference between the RS and non RS car for it to matter (IMO) as long as you get the 1.4T. We drove both and I bought an LTZ because it was the better deal. I plan to tune the wife's car as soon as the warranty is up.
wlkelley3 said:I don't really get the "what car shall I buy" questions. I get the "what is wrong with my car" questions. I should add that although I'm really the only car guy that actually works on their own car in the building I work in a building full of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineers, Helicopter pilots and mechanics. I'm one of the Helicopter mechanics. Actually surprises me with how many are not technically savvy on how cars work. But we design helicopters and work out repairs for the army helicopters for a living.
This!!! Except fixed wing. And one of the guys cant even drive a stick!!!!!
What happens to me is:
I tell them what they should buy, and that they should under no circumstances buy one without me doing a free multipoint inspection at my shop.
They almost always buy the absolute worst g/d example of what I told them to get that exists on this earth (crashed/ neglected). Then I proceed to feel badly for recommending anything or getting involved. Lol.
Mixed bag for me. I've put several happy friends into Miatas, Corollas and the occasional Civic Si.
My family, on the other hand, always takes my advice, then buys EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of what I told them. Hence, my nephew's money-pit Trailblazer, my brother-in-law's overpriced VW minivan and, once upon a time, a Dodge Stratus in my sister's driveway.
