Sorry, no help here. I learned a long time ago to stay away from the E.R. ....far away.

No ER techs, but a few of my inlaws are EMTs. We get to hear some stories now & then.

Me personally, I could think of a thousand jobs I'd rather have. None the less, I'm very thankfull there are people out there who are willing to do their best on a daily basis to help others!

try it first. Volunteer for a local fire depo, they probably will train you to be a first responder or emt.

There is a high burn out rate, it is a stressful job.

Some people love it.

My mom was an ER/trama nurse when I was growing up....errr getting bigger. The hours suck and it is apparently pretty high stress. Something about hours of boredom followed by sheer terror and people in pain. She said the worst were the car wrecks and gun shots. Having people die on you would get old too.

My wife was an X-ray tech for a few years, then she went to school to become an Ultrasound Tech. Right now, it's takes about 18 months of school/internship/boards, but soon it will require a four-year degree. I'm not sure how you're qualified (or what it takes to become so) for this position, but if you have some experience, there are better jobs available.

With enough morphine they are all fairly cute, and it takes about four of them to drop a fat man while moving him from the stretcher to a bed.
