Very true.

I always worked the hardest when things were slow. (Worrying and scrounging for jobs)

I just sold my business. Started this one (the latest one) in 1999. Deal is not done but subjects are off and paperwork is in the lawyers hands. I don't know what to think. Mostly I wonder if the new venture will afford us the same lifestyle as the old one. I'm actually kind of terrified today.

Same, but for different reasons.

I'm interviewing for the 3rd (hopefully final time) with a great company tomorrow, but they are also in the process of being acquired by a very, very large name in the IT/Computing field.

So I don't what, if any, impact that will have on the vacation/benefits/pay range we have already discussed.

Make sure you get an employment contract.

Easy for me to say because the only "employment contract" I have is that if I do my job right I have a job.

I always found it interesting that when people ask for an employment contract I always counter with great so lets define your milestones and agreed upon amount of work product and or the volume of business you will generate. Things usually get really quiet. If on the other hand a new higher sais let do it and continues the discussion I can almost guarantee that they are the kind of person I want.

I'm not worried about that aspect of it. Just that I already spoke with the "Talent Acquisition Manager" and we talked some generalities like pay range, benefits, time off, things like that.

I've got a buddy that works there who has already told the PTO (Paid Time Off) policy has changed but wasn't specific, but based on what I've had the last almost year and a half...........I don't really care as long as we stay in the upper-end of the salary range mentioned.

The idea of being my own boss sounds interesting but I like clocking out at the end of the day and not taking any work home with me and just picking it up the next morning.
