Actually we are booked into new smyrna
In Charleston, the best family beaches are Isle of Palms (close in) or Kiawah Island Beachcomber Park (further out). KI was voted one of the best in the US a few years back, and is pretty chill. Folly is good, but more adult partiers. I've got some roughly that age, and those are the beaches we like here. Edisto is also great, but further away.
Chas is about 45 min from the 26/95 turnoff.
Sounds like a fun trip!
