Dear Mr. Suddard,
Thank you for the excellent magazine and some great online articles for the times between the paper issues. The forums on the website however are not my favorite. I would like to recommend they be more closely monitored, if not moderated.
They seem to have attracted an unusually high ratio of threads about boats.
Most rational people, even those whom have no qualm with well thought out ravings from lunatics who never see daylight realize that the only opinions that matter are the ones that are about cars.
Instead, a number of your forum users have quite vehemently posted about boats. They've failed to grasp the simple truth that this is a car forum.
Personally, I found the posts about boats to be a disgusting example of poor judgment. Posting it here to ruffle others feathers suggests a desire for attention. What of this is grassroots?
Your magazines have earned a great reputation for their high content:fluff ratio the website and forums should support. I strongly recommend establishing better boundaries for the use of the forums. Please do not be afraid to restrict or even disallow the use of the forums by those whom either cannot or will not behave themselves when posting about watercraft. A right to own a boat does not equal permission to pollute your forums with it.

oh, pshhh. you're just jealous your race car doesn't have titanium suspension like that crazy cat boat.
Brilliant response Mr. Gimp! I LOL'd
I should point out that the topic of boats is particularly relevant currently (what with all this water going places it shouldn't be) and I think it is unreasonable to expect people to avoid the topic of boats even on a board that is supposed to be dedicated to cars.
I believe the true source of the problem with all these discussions about boats is the fact that those who like sail boats can never seem to have any common ground with those who like power boats. If a "wind driven" type sees a problem with the boat world it is always the fault of the "gas driven" types and visa versa.
Should we block all this discussion of boats? I don't think so. Soon all this extra water will be gone, and everyone will forget about boats until the next deluge.
Until then, can't all of you who prefer keels try and realize that the the people who can pass under low bridges are not the source of all your problems and all of you who steer from the front realize that those with ropes running all over are not to blame for all your problems.
I don't even want to get into that fringe group that keeps throwing in how great submarines are! I mean come on, how many people have submarines! Your point is mute.

Not really. There's crossover with submarines and the interests of this board. They both cross paths at "awesome":
Pricy, but nifty.

Shameless plug for brother Ken's site for powerboats, but not canoes:

Flounder Pounder Marine----ask for your GRM discount! He's got more boat stuff than you can shake a stick at. He's also got a 76 Vista Cruiser for sale. (speaking of boats)
Some boats are grassroots, or that was my impression.. (redneck sampan)
I've got the DSM of boats, its a 1987 Hobie 17. And yes, its broken.
