In looking at all the variations of the Ruger Mark IV, I now have to decide if I want the 22/45 or the Mark IV Target.

Edit:  Think I'm leaning this way:

In reply to 1988RedT2 :

If you prefer 1911 grip angle:  22/45

If you prefer Glock grip angle:  Std MkIV

The biggest issue with the 22/45 offerings is all of them have polymer grip frames, and are shorter barrels/aluminum receivers so they're really too light to be traditional "target" pistols in that sense, though I do prefer the 1911 grip angle.

I could do with and end to a certain international conflict that has caused Soviet ammo to be very non-Soviet prices. An AR47 or SKS would be pretty high on my list if that stuff was 9mm money like it should be.

My wife shot her rifle this morning, and had no problems ringing steel out to 400 yds...

Her first EVER 5 shot group at 100yds on paper:

Still just running cheap XTac 55gr... I need to plan a range trip to test some different bullet weights to see what this thing really likes.

She's got me beat! Took my hunting rifle out this weekend, I'm solid at 100 yards, but 300 was not really going well. Need more trigger time on a rifle and long range practice.

In theory, 62-69gr should work pretty well.   We're still at ~50 rounds total through the rifle so just getting started.  I've got about 6-7 different loads to test from 62-77gr.  Once I get an idea what it wants, I'll work on handload.  I've never bothered to load for .223, 'cause I've never had a precision rifle in .223, just ARs.  I guess the time has come... LOL

She has some skills!!!!  That is a nice group!!

I need to get my LMT out.  I got a new 762 16" barrel for it and I have yet to test it.  It was a cheat code when I was shooting 6.5CM through the 22" barrel.

I would have to look around and see if I still have the target but I was sub MOA with it using the all copper 6.5CM Sig projectiles.  It really seemed to like those.  I tried some other Sig rounds (regular jacketed hunting rounds) and the groups opened up quite a bit to about 1-1.5 MOA.  I have not tried any other 6.5 through it yet to see if there is something else it likes.

And I also need to get my Mosin out.  I got it 2-3 months ago and finally got 400 rounds of amo for it.

I'm currently shopping new semi auto shotguns. I'm currently looking at the Winchester SX4 and the Franchi Affinity 3. Both shoot 3 inch shells. Both come in a camo pattern which I prefer. This will be my hunting/beat around shotgun I have nicer ones for the random clay shooting.

I know one is gas driven and one is inertia driven, which seems to be the biggest difference.  Most of the reviews I see put the these two at the top of their class based on price.

Anyone have any experience with either?

Changing out the barrel on my 5.56. Going from a 10.5 to 16" and adding a fixed stock and hoping I find a little more enjoyment in it.

I bought a carbine length gas barrel simply to minimize cost by reusing as much as possible. Including the 9.5" guard. So the barrel is going to stick out a fair bit.

I have an A2 birdcage and a Noveske KX5. I'm not sure which to use, or if I like fireballs and just run a thread protector. Any thoughts?

(Sorry for the poor picture)

The FSB is going away. Not really looking forward to fighting those pins, but whatever.

I do not have experience with either of those, but I am a big fan of my buddy's Stoeger. I believe it is inertia driven, and it shoots great. Allegedly it's a Benelli without the logo more or less. Prices are quite reasonable too.

Is anyone else at the point in their lives when they're looking at their collection and wondering what needs to go?  I probably should have unloaded a bunch before the election...

I'm kinda there with musical gear, a lot of it I never use and I'm getting tired of it collecting dust

So for whatever reason I've been looking at scout rifles again and I found simple m44 scout mount that I thought was cool.

I like mosins, let's see how expensive m44/m38s are now......oh....

It would be cheaper for me to get a Mossberg MVP scout. Wow

yeah mosin's and SKS's are now worth $$$ apparently. I remember when they came in crates and you could grab an M44 for $69 and a case of 7.62x54 for $70. SKS's were $119 and 7.62x39 was $65/1000

Man I wish I could go back in time and grab more.

At that price though they just don't make sense, I'm not with sure why I want a scout rifle but when you start looking at 7.62x54 vs 308, magazine vs not and the price?

I'll get the Mossberg then, I did handle the Ruger version a few days ago again but I still think Mossberg so far.

Although it looks like the make Enfield mounts too , a sweet Gibbs 45-70 Enfield could be worth it to me.

well hell... looks like I might be a plastic fantastic fanboy again. Boss offered me his Springfield XD-45 Compact with tac pack for $300 with the extra mags full of SD ammo. I miss my old taurus 24/7 and this seems like it might be good. I'll shoot it this weekend and see if I keep it or resell it.
