I'm not taking on the Chinese in my back yard, but a coyote out at 90? My eyes don't see as well as they used to. The red dot I had given to me was like $30 7 years ago. IT's held up and held true enough for my needs.

light magnification, like 3-4x. It's a 16" .223, I'm not reaching out 500 yards with it. Just something to make seeing what I am shooting a little better.

Apparently, a fifth district judge just blocked the pistol brace rule put into effect earlier this year. There had been some stays granted to a few parties previously, but this ruling blocks the rule entirely.

Simply reporting on news. Let's not turn this into an argument or stray into patio territory.

Oh. Oh. Oh. Forgot to post up about this. I stumbled on this very original 1944 M1 Gerand.  The barrel was replaced in 1960 but everything else seems to be matching.  I put a adjustable gas plug on it and tuned it so I can shoot standard 150g 30-06.

The barrel measured a bit under 1. Throat was a bit under 2. I measured it my self at the store.

What caught my eye was the Birds Eye speckling in the stock. This is rare. This means that the stock was made in Denmark. I was told towards the end of the war all the metal bits were being shipped to Denmark where the stocks were then made and the rifle was then fully assembled. This makes sense as you can ship a whole lot more rifles if you don't have the furniture installed.   This was further confirmed by the markings on the new barrel that was put on it as a made in Denmark barrel with a 1960 date on it.  Also the furniture all has the matching original serial numbers as well as the other stampings.  It is a really good shooter. It is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted originality with its history still present on the rifle.

Should look something like this...

I do need to find an inexpensive scope for the 16". Nothing crazy but would be nice to see things 100-150 yards out.

I don't know. I know I need something for general use, and am still researching.

You guys should look at Arken Optics.  The EPL series is damn good for the price, even without the current 25% off deal.  Their new 1-8X LPVO looks pretty good as well, but I haven't seen one in person.  I'm not a big fan of the reticle, but it would still be a great budget choice for a 5.56 AR.  I have an SH series and an EPL series and the glass is as good or better than anything 2x the price.

Interesting! Any independent comparisons? Just need general cost per performance. It doesn't need to be the best thing ever, but it does need to be durable and easy to use.

There should be plenty of reviews on the yootoobe by now.  My personal experiences is they're a great value for the average shooter.  My only question would be hard use durability, but that's an issue for professional war-zone guys, not the average shooter.   If I needed another LPVO right now, I would buy one of the Arken 1-8xs.

I did a fair amount of reading / studding my options for de gassing of the rifle and ended up going with the adjustable one versus the ones that just enlarge the chamber. From the info I saw the non adjustable ones still result in pressures exceeding the ball amo numbers by as much as 20 percent. Where as with the adjustable one the rifle will run fine and the pressures are actually 10-15 percent under the stock ball amo pressures that the rifle was designed for.  The stock pressures with the ball amo were obviously because of wanting reliability at the sacrifice of over all service life.

The result is I can shoot modern 150 grane 30-06 and the felt recoil is very similar to that of 308. May be even a little softer. The bigger plus to me is that it greatly lowers the chances of damage to the rifle as the pressures and resulting forces on the inner workings of the rifle are greatly reduced.

And I can shoot off the shelf amo instead of the not so easy to get old ball amo. I actually found a source of 30-06 150g for about 1.20 a round. At 100 yards it is probably 2 MOA but that is more a me problem and not the amo or the rifle.

I would not do that unless I had a AR 15. I have a 1-8 lpvo in one of my AR 15 and it is fine but a complete compromise.  To do what you want I would get a 3-15 scope and an offset mount red dot. Yes you are going to spend at least as much on the optics as you did on the rifle but I assume you knew that going in to this.

The red dot is the 0-100 yard SHTF option that if you are aiming that close you probably wont even be "aiming" per say. More of a point and shoot zombie apocalypse situation or bad guy in your house situation.  The 3-15 scope is the hunting optic that you will have time to set up your shot.

I wish you lived closer I would have you over so you could try my various setups so you would understand where I am coming from.

Scope I use On my 308. You'll need a mount. It's held up well to rapid firing, and I'd have no hesitation to stretch out to 500y. As stated, not much use inside 100y.

That was the pistol that made me sell off my entire Glock collection. Shot a friend's 365 and was just blown away by how good it was. Pointed naturally, way more accurate and way better trigger than any of the Glocks. Love that gun.

That's what I carry everyday, standard p365. Though my wife's new LCP Max is  really nice to carry. I steal it whenever I can.

Since CCW isn't a huge concern for me, and the gun I've mostly carried would make most people laugh, I didn't invest heavily in a more "standard" carry piece. I was between a 365, a Hellcat and a G2C and the gun store. G2C was ridiculously cheap at that moment ( $169!) So I got that even though both of the other options were better.

But I don't like the G2C at all, even though it's accurate, reliable and for all intents and purposes it's a fine gun. Trigger sucks, very boring

That looks to be a good deal. I did not know they had got so cheap. I paid 4x that for my Burris FFP 3-15

For red dots the sig units are ok. You can step up to a Hollow sun but I would not wast the $$$. It is something that you should know how to use (you should train with it)  but in reality you will probably not use it much with that rifle. In general use going to the range etc.

I carried a 24/7 Pro Compact gen1 for a while. Great gun. 10+1 .45acp with an available 12rd magazine. Lighter than my 1911's but comparable grip angles and a thumb safety. But I agree, those triggers are horrific. Went back to my 1911's. I do miss that one a little though. Great backpack gun (throw it in the backpack with the other things I keep in the trunk.
