I swapped the AT-One stock that came on my CZ .22 onto the .17 to improve ergonomics... the factory stock, while pretty, doesn't have enough comb for a good cheekweld.  Unfortunately, the inlet wasn't fit quite right, and the stock would move around even when properly torqued.  I was hoping to get away with the AT-One for a while, but ended up just ordering another KRG Bravo.  The Bravo is a great value, IMHO, and I have several of them at this point.

I decided to paint this one in a 'state'riotic 'camo' scheme... cheeky

Definitely, it makes zero sense. The only thing I can think of is he got advice from someone that hunts big dangerous bear? I know destroying the shoulder and shrapneling it into the heart is a thing but deer are pretty much Woods Cows and not really scary.

Plus even if you look past the horrible cruelty, you are destroying some good rump roasts even. And I think he said he uses a 338mag, or possibly a 300mag so you know it destroys everything and he's killing an animal for no reason

More deer have probably been taken in the US with .22LR (not necessarily legally) than any other caliber.  Hunting deer with a .338 mag is just idiotic.

We have a herd that wanders through our property from time to time.  Pretty sure I could get one with a 9mm if I wanted to.

I remember reading an article about a guy that hunted deer with a 22 Hornet for a great amount of years and always filled his tag. I believe he was using a single shot too to make sure he always took the best shot.

I think he upgraded from the 25-20 too, which he also used for great effect.

Looking a bit online it seems like the 338 is used on deer by some but I can't imagine the deer I see here needing that kind of firepower

I just found out about some neat lever guns coming this summer, for half the price of a Henry Supreme, with an external hammer, and waaay better looking:

https://www.arttechdefense.com/en/products/altera.html?Category=7

The Altera Classical in .308 or 300 Win Mag would be my pick.

Looks like it's based off the Browing BLR design with how the receiver/bolt is and the trigger comes down with the lever. Yet again, the Altera Classic is a beautiful design, better aesthetics than the BLR and WAAAY better aesthetics than the Henry Supreme - Henry Supreme is just weird and goofy looking, an ugly rifle to me.

I'd be there for one in .308! .300WM seems unnecessary in a lever gun. In that YT video preview the wood stock looks attractive, but a plastic-stock, mag-fed, Picatinny-railed lever gun? No thank you.

I have a Henry in 357/38 special.  A very fun rifle.

I'll be intersted to keep an eye out for how those seem once released. 308 would be sweet!

Late posting this because it was a valentine's day thing for Mrs Gunner

 GSG 5 pk. 22lr.

I had one about 20 years ago and sold it at a gun show without telling her. I had no idea she loved the little thing and she was pissed. I looked for another one but h&k had pitched a fit about the design and they were all of a sudden very hard to come by. Over the years I found a few in the 1k to 2k $$ range, way too much for a $500 gun. In January I found this one in Maine and had it shipped to my ffl for just over $400 all in. Yep. Perfect valentine's day gift. Surprised the E36 M3 out of her. I also bought 2 22 round mags for it like I had on the first one.

Because everyone needs a Czech Mauser. Found this and snatched it up. A 1937 all matching numbers including the stock.  Feels like it was put away after very little use.   Looks to have very low "millage".

Edit:  just put my bore scope down it and it looks new. Not un fired but I would say less than 100 rounds.

Non corrosive stuff is not cheep. About 1.35 a round. The corrosive surplus stuff is cheep. Like .30 a round but not ever going use the corrosive stuff if non corrosive is available.

PPU 8mm x 57 at $1.21 per:  Target Sports 8mm Mauser

It's a little less and free shipping if you buy their membership.  The membership is $100/yr, but I usually end up saving $200-400yr depending on how much of what I shoot in a given year.  It's really nice to be able to order just a couple of boxes of something to test and not have to pay $15-20 shipping.

My wife shot this 10 shot group at 100yds this morning with her Bergara .223...  just under 1 MOA.  She's getting pretty comfortable with the rifle and has no problem dialing the scope and ringing steel out to 400 with it.  I'm still doing ammo testing, but so far it seems to like this X-Tac Match 77g.  Which is fine with me, 'cause it's not super expensive.   Once I find its preferred bullet weight, I'll work up a handload.

I am a member and yes I saw that. I was back and forth on the S&B verse the rifle line.  I ended up getting the rifle line as I have some 54R of there's that shoots very well.  But I am sure S&B would be fine as I have used it in 7.5 Swiss with no issues either.

I usually go with PPU over S&B for my 6.5 Swede, 'cause the S&B is loaded to modern pressure specs and is a lot hotter than the PPU.  Don't know if that is the deal with other than 6.5x55, though...

I should probably look at the feet per second charts on them and see if there's some significant difference. I generally tend to error on the side of lower FPS with the older guns with everything else being equal.  In my M1 grand I actually have an adjustable gas block in it so I can run modern 150 grain.

When you're dealing with hundred plus year-old rifles, I tend to try and treat him nice and keep the pressures down.

MilSurps are awesome, even though I wish the prices were what they once were.

I was astonished by what an m44 goes for now
