Maybe, maybe an exception for a really great homemade unusual bread like sourdough or pumpernickel, but even then toasted is usually better.

PB&J? More curious than doubtful at this point. Peanut butter on toast is good. Jelly on toast is good. Therefore PB&J on toast should be good but it's never crossed my mind until just now. 

Looks like I've got my weekend plans figured out now.

Bread pudding is much improved by using toast.

Absolutely. Lunch today was PB and raspberry blossom honey on toast. Delicious noms.

PB&J on toast is amazing.  The peanut butter gets a little melty and the cold jelly against the hot toast is heavenly.

PB & bacon on squishy white bread.  Too easy.  

BTW, humans need to eat more grainy, course material, white bread doesn’t scrub pollups.

the interesting (ironic?) thing to me is, that "a loaf of bread" as people are used to buying in the 'states... would be found and purchased as a "toast" on the euro continent (dunno about England/UK)

There is no clear winner both have their place.  Squishy white bread should never be used for anything, toasted or not.

It depends on the use.

If one is packing a lunch to eat cold, it's best to leave the bread normal.

Grilled cheese sandwiches should not have the bread pre toasted. 

Avocado toast would absolutely not work as avocado bread. I know this seems to get mocked, but I think it's going to be this decade's equivalent of loaded potato skins from the '70s - it may end up regarded as a period piece, but it's good in its own right.

I mean, baguettes are something special with their crusty outsides and tender, chewy insides, but I'm with everyone else here. Toast is the real MVP.

I politely disagree.  I always toast the bread when making sandwiches for tomorrow's lunches, whether PBJ, PBH, or deli meats.

My grandmother spent most of her 90s subsisting almost entirely on all-day snacking on toast. At the time it kind of freaked me out and made me sad for her. I have since come to recognize her genius.
