Since this community seems to be able to ID anything: I'm trying to figure out what kind of animal made this large pile next to my house.
I live in the country in Southeast TN, so deer, coyote, possums, raccoon and other typical wildlife is common. But this looks bigger than what I'd expect to find from the typical animals around here.
So far as I know there aren't any farm animals or large dogs roaming my property. Black bear and hogs would both be extremely rare & newsworthy for the area, but not impossible.
I'd agree, horse or something with a horse-like diet and poo shape.

My equine vet wife says it equine.

I wondered if that might be the case, but I can't imagine how/why a horse would come to be so close to my house.
I was wondering where the old trail was. Apparently it's by your house.
Whatever it is, it looks like it ate a huge pile of horse E36 M3 recently.
Unicorn? If not, moose or elk.
Do you happen to live on Old Town Road?
Not a triceratops. Can confirm.
This forum makes me feel truly proud and happy.

These guys know their E36 M3.
I may not know E36 M3, but I do know that you can tell a carnivore from an omnivore, from a herbivore by looking at what is left. To judge by the extreme amount of grasses, that is a Herbivore and by the size, not a deer. Have any moose nearby?

That's it. Case closed.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but until OP verifies that it does taste like hay, it could theoretically still be something else.

I'll bet you $5 it tastes like E36 M3.
We live semi-rural and our lawn is littered with various shapes and sizes of poop. Mostly deer, but we did have a tree in our yard destroyed last summer and were told the damage was most likely bear. My wife bought me a trail cam as a gift and we have it out and on in the yard pretty much every day. Once every two or three weeks we bring the SD card in and watch through the videos to see the type/number of wildlife roaming through our property. We keep the interesting videos, delete the rest and start again. Occasionally we move the camera to a different location on the property.
Maybe something worth trying? This is the version we have;

The timing on this thread is eerily bizarre. My neighbor's dad was helping his son with some things around the yard yesterday. He walks over to where me, my son, and my neighbor were chatting about cars and golf karts, and things, and he opens his gloved hand to reveal several large-ish pieces of poo. He proceeded to ask if any of us knew what animal might have produced said poo. None of us was an expert on poo, and we made a few guesses. It didn't look canine, but was maybe the size a large dog would make, but we don't have a lot of stray dogs come through here. I know some large groundhogs live back there, but I have no idea what groundhog poop looks like. So sorry now that I didn't think to snap a picture. This could become the poop ID thread.
Ever had somebody walk up to you and show you a handful of poo? It's a tad weird.
Edit: It occurs to me that many threads here will eventually go to E36 M3. This one started out there.
Looks like all the horse poo we get in the road with all the Amish here.
