Now, that don't look so bad. Here's some perspective:
I certainly hope no one was hurt, Ranger. But f do-overs were to be had, I got dibs.
I was the 5th of 6 drivers on our Chumpcar team this weekend, running a 24 hour enduro. 10 minutes into the first stint, a knucklehead in an MR2 spun in front of our first driver, and the resulting t-bone did the above damage. Broken (brand new aluminum) radiator, oil cooler, fan, water pump, headlights, and tweaked right front suspension. Even after straightening things out, the radiator support was 3 inches closer to the firewall. 6 hours of garage time got us back on track, but we dropped out shortly thereafter with unrelated issues.
Not what I had in mind for my weekend.
Hope your day gets better. The sun'll come up tomorrow.

I can only image that happens all too often in Chumpcar/LeMons racing. Too many knuckleheads out there I'd bet.
To OP, that sucks man. I will have a beer or six for you tonight.
As usual, I can't see the images you post, but you can have my share of the beer. Sounds like you might need it.

Nahhh. He needs Dewey, Cheatem and Howe.

From what I hear, more often in Chump. LeMons cracks down pretty hard on bad driving. I've never run at Chump, but I've heard more war stories about cars crashed there than at LeMons.
YMMV, I guess.
I got hit my a pheasant on my way to work this morning. The sucker hit me in the driver's side (RHD) door when I was tooling along at about 70mph on a two lane country road. Ripped my side mirror clean off my door and the glass shattered all over. The damn bird nearly ended up in my face - he was only partially inside the car, but I am glad I didn't get it in the face.
To add insult to injury I got pulled over about a half mile later. Cop said it looked like I was going a little too fast. I don't think he radared me at all. He was coming towards me. I got off with a warning. Got to work a couple minutes late with shards of glass on me. No cuts or blood or any real damage to the car other than I have to get a new mirror.
Well, I get my RX8 back from the body shop in the morning. A week ago I stopped at a new stop sign, a lady in a Kia Sorento SUV didn't. The stop sign was new to that section of road and been there about a week. This was also a rare incident that the person that hit one of my cars actually stopped long enough for the cops to come and had good insurance. Usually they either take off and/or don't have insurance. Be glad to get rid of that Dodge Avenger rental, don't like it. Too tall (especially for a car) and the radio controls are on the back of the steering wheel right where you wrap your hands around (3&9o'clock) so I'm always hitting it and changing stations.

As long as the legal matters don't involve game wardens you might be OK?

It does happen fairly often in crapcan racing. They're cheap cars, and there are plenty of novice drivers (myself and my whole team included). This was a case of overzealous driving by a newb who didn't know the car, and who may not have understood why the car was getting loose where it was.
Chump is less strict on driving mistakes like this guy made than Lemons is. Honestly, it was a racing accident, not a moronic-driving accident. They black flagged the driver a few laps before for doing the same thing, which means a mandatory trip down pit road to have a chat with the race officials for a few minutes. Lemons doesn't tolerate crummy driving (in my limited understanding), which makes it a bit tougher for new guys to go have fun.
So it goes. We can rebuild her. We have the technology.

Great Zeus' Beard! That dog is viscous!

I have heard that ChumpCar is less strict than LeMons about crashes, I don't know first hand. Here's what happened with LeMons: the first few races became a polite demolition derby. That would only get worse, so metal to metal contact was clamped down on. It doesn't necessarily ruin the fun for nOObs, but it does help train them in thinking skills rather than just 'ka wham, knock him out of the way'.
IMHO that's a good thing, I'd rather people learn that lesson with a crapcan car than in, say, an IT car where repairing crash damage is MUCH more expensive and the speeds can be much higher.

That's my understanding and my thoughts, too. But don't just take my word for it- LeMon's chief perpetrator his'self, Jay Lamn, says the best drivers he sees out there on the track are the amateurs. Basically, they have a healthy dose of fear, and tend to drive more conservatively than your hot shot ace with patches on his driving suit who thinks he's God's gift to racing and women.

Yes, it was.
In reply to Curmudgeon and volvoclearinghouse:
We're on the same page. Lemons seems to be stricter on first offense, Chump sees unintentional contact as racing and cracks down on repeat offenders. I'm pretty sure they would have pulled the driver of the MR2 had he been in a condition to continue driving (brief loss of consciousness, neck pain, minor concussion). We didn't want the team kicked out, we didn't even really want the driver kicked out, we just didn't want the driver to continue driving like an asshat.
