Why is it any of those after 1940s I find unappealing?

Yeah, sounds great. It's putting all that into practice that's the problem. That poster is basically the equivalent of saying: "TWO STEPS TO BE GREAT AT GOLF! Step 1: Learn to hit the ball really straight and far. Step 2: Learn to putt accurately."
I could write all those tips on my hand but when I stand there I still turn into a blabbering idiot.
This makes sense to me.
