I'm jealous, I came this close ][ to buying a used JM stamped 1895 a couple months back. I declined because I thought the price was too high for a used rifle, then I looked up what they were going for, and regret not bringing it home with me.

You don't have to worry about shooting your eye out, more like shoot your head off.

Related.

Well, to be fair, I haven't bought it yet. I stopped by the BX to get a hair cut and decided to check out the gun counter. I was looking at a little Bersa .380 that was under $300 but the Marlin caught my eye. I've been after a lever action for a bit after shooting my dad's Model 94. After fondling it for awhile, the clerk mentioned they were having a 10% off sale on the 26th. I guess I can wait 3 days. Maybe

SWMBO's dad got a TC Encore in 45-70 several years ago for south Arkansas hog hunting. He wanted more knock down than his 5.56 mm. I don't know what round he was using in the 45-70, but I recall him saying he was done shooting it for a while after sighting it in. Sadly since he converted his AR to .300 AAC that 45-70 is now just a safe queen.

I want a 1894 Marlin in .357 in a bad way, no such luck. Everything on Gunbroker/Armslist is out of my price range, and since Remington bought Marlin they don't seem to be making the .357 anymore.

The .44 mag is getting easier to find though, so maybe the .357 will come back too.

Since this is the "hotlink" thread. Have you seen Jurassic World?

I still want one of these.

It's not high on the priority list though.

I have a Marlin .35 .... with the 200 gr. bullet ... it has some very serious knock down power ... doesn't carry very far ... but pretty much knocks down what ever it hits ... regardless of where on the body of your target ... it may get up, (depends on you aim) but it does go down ... bear, wild hog ... whatever

There's a dealer not too far from me who stocks 'em.

Tempting. Very tempting. Impractical, but practicality is not the idea.

I didn't even notice that!

My dad and I keep planning on getting a moose tag. I figure a .45-70 is a bit better for moose that my 5.56 LOL. Plus, he keeps looking at .45-70s as well. Its funny because I will buy a gun, show it to him/let him shoot it and he will like it so much that he will go buy one. It irritates my mom to no end

He loved my Ruger SR1911. My mom kept giving him dirty looks when he was telling her how nice it shot. If he comes home with a new gun, I get blamed haha

Doesn't Henry make a .357 lever action?

In reply to stanger_missle:

Yeah, Henry, and Rossi both make one. I don't like Henry's tube magazine, and the Rossi is top eject like Winchester/Browning. I want a scope, and don't want a scout scope/mount or side mount.
