I think you are pulling the link from the wrong page. When i went to your link and long clicked the image to open it in a sepatate tab (or "view image" separately from the imgur page) and used that link it worked when hotlinking here.

Oh sweet jeebus! I may have to crack this open to celebrate. So from an iPhone once you upload the picture to Imgur you long press the image to get the link, not the "copy link" icon at the bottom of the page. (Thank the FSM that was so clear!!)

What a ridiculous gyration....
