The Tower of Power, Mercury inline 6!

This takes up space in my garage. Only marginally similar

Yep, talk about eau de 2 stroke on start up.  (Psst, your boats on fire!  LOL)  We were all about Mercurys when I was a kid, my dad had a 1970 115 and later we had a small ski boat with an inline 4, 50 HP too.

I had on just like the one above, 1987 which was either the last or 2nd to last year for the 2 stroke in line 6 design.   When you eventually got the three carbs in sync it was a real screamer. Nothing else sounds like one, they really start to sing above 5,000 RPM.

A friend has an RV kit plane powered by a rotary, Holy Schnickeys!  Even at 4,000 above it's frikkin' annoying.   On the ground it's a weed whacker blender with open pipes.

That looks fun.  I’ve got a 10 or so foot hydroplane hull similar to that, bought it for 50 bucks from a neighbor.   I should do something with it...devil
