I'm still (eventually) relocating to Seattle. Checking out the local SCCA race schedule I see they use a track called Bremerton. A little disappointing but slightly better than drag racing :

I saw something like that when flying from Phoenix to Yuma, Az. Big paved triangles! Who the heck would make a race track stupider than an oval, three 120 degree turns with three straights?
Come to find out it's Civil Air Patrol, or something made during WW2. No matter the wind direction you can take off and land.
I saw four of them but they're probably dotted all over the desert.

Gimli race track is based off a typical RCAF air field. Even got used one day as an airport.

In reply to 914Driver: Ford proving ground ? Honda is selling theirs in NorCal that would make a great race course--sort of a Road America West.
