I was sitting there on I-71 headed towards EvanB's for some rotary exposition and bourbon, and I am just toolin' down the road bored at 80mph, and I see something on the rearview horizon and hear it at the same time. By the time I have the window rolld half down in an attempt to throw some horns at them, these two guys on motorcycles fly by me faster than I'm flying past the road. And those bikes sounded fricking GLORIOUS. I am not exaggerating when I figure they were doing over 180.
A minute later, some guy hauls ass past me, at only 150 or so, on a much lower displacement sounding bike.
20 minutes later, I go through the speedtrap that is Ashland, and the lone small-bore rider is on the side of the road ahead of a silver Charger with party lights.
Also saw many other things. A late model Mustang cruising along at 70 or so and then dropping down a few gears and doing a rolling smoky burnout up to 110 or so. No brake torquing, just horsepower. A Caliber SRT (paging Unicorn thread...) that took off after a LLB finally moved over and I tried to follow but couldn't, because I only have 300hp. I heard two upshifts, the last one when he was on the horizon. I saw some modern supercar E36 M3box that only 13 year olds could identify on sight, with DMC in large letters on the back, pulled over by the OHSP, with an entourage SUV parked a discreet distance behind the cruiser.
And then, on the way home, I saw someone hauling ass in a Challenger with amber high beam lenses in my rearview behind someone in a minivan. I'm going 80, the guy ahead is going 75, I say fark it, I move over to let the guy in the Toyota tailgate the guy blocking the left lane, and it was shortly after the bourgeblob Toyota minivan thing cruise-controlled past that my brain squeed and facepalmed at the same time. That wasn't a NEW Challenger, that was a real one, a '70 by the license plate. And It. Sounded. Glorious. By the revs he was turning to make 80 he had 3.55 or maybe 3.73s in the rear, and no overdrive, because overdrive is for wusses. And he was hauling all the ass. He turned off to 270W and he did not slow down, I saw his fat tired E-body leaning over as he took the interchange. Very, VERY Knurled-Approved.
