I drive a running/driving project car once a month to give her some exercise. I also drive a former daily driver that's becoming a project about every other week-ish. It's a combined total of ~2,000 miles/year.
Insurance broker says she can't help with collector coverage because the cars ('80s Saabs), while stored on my property, aren't garaged.
Meanwhile, my policy just jumped $260, which isn't going to break the bank, but seems ridiculous, given how little the cars are driven.
So, what's the cheapest way to insure roadworthy project cars that aren't driven much?
I have Hagerty on my 87 Scirocco. But, I have a regular daily (required), and it's "stored" in an open carport. $96 a year for coverage at $3500 value.
Seconded on the Hagerty for the classics with a daily driver (or 6) on State Farm. We have about 12 cars on Hagerty with mileage limitations and agreed value policies. About 2/3rds are stored indoors now, but they will insure cars outdoors.
Hagerty wanted more then my mortgage to insure my 2 Tercels (the 2 that run) that are low use and both garage kept.
I am stuck with StateFarm liability

My understanding is that varies state to state. A few years ago Hagerty told me a policy in Florida requires they at least be under a carport.
Thanks for the responses. Had been under the impression that collector car insurers required a garage, and will submit a quote request today. Hopefully, they don't require a garage where I live...
EDIT:
Just adding that Hagerty will insure both cars, stored in a driveway, in Seattle. Also, I had to call them with a question, and the cust service was great.
You know that feeling when you've been spending a E36 M3-ton of money on something for years, and it's not a great value to begin with, and you just learned you've been spending a E36 M3-ton of money on something that's not a great value to begin with, and you could've been spending fraction of that money all this time? That's the feeling I'm feeling right about now. But, to keep it positive, now I'll be spending E36 M3-ton less money. 👍
I used American Collectors, not sure about the carport/garage thing but they were half the price of the others.
