My wife got a new job, working remote.  I was expecting they'd send her a laptop.  Instead, they sent a "micro" computer and two monitors.  The computer is a Dell Optiplex 3090.  Since I'm also a remote employee, we had plans to do some work/traveling.  For example, rent a beach condo for the week, work during the day and enjoy the beach from 4:30pm on. Dragging around a couple of monitors, a keyboard and a mouse is a bit unwieldy.  I'm not familiar with these things.  Can they be hooked up to a laptop to act as its' monitor?  Having a laptop of some sort is convenient since it's so portable.  And yes, she already did check with her job and they're fine with her working from someplace other than our house.  How do I make this as easy as possible?

A laptop most likely won't have a video in. Best I can come up with is a home made briefcase to hold a monitor plus the "computer". Then you have to deal with supplying power to both since they're designed for house voltages.

I was assuming you wanted to work on the beach?  If it's just beach after hours the power issue goes away.

A Portable monitor is how you dual screen a laptop in the field. So, 2 portable monitors and a micro computer can be reasonably portable, especially with the right carry bag.

Maybe not airplane carry-on friendly but will travel by car easily from desk to desk.

The monitors will be about the size of a thin laptop, each. The computer isn't much bigger than thick laptop. A keyboard is similar to a laptop size. So, near equivalent to bringing 4 laptops and 2-3 times the cabling.

Should all fit in a 3 compartment back pack. Sample.

Would the job consider swapping her into a true laptop?

Unfortunately, no they won't give her a laptop.  I wasn't sure if there was a way to plug this thing into a conventional laptop and use the laptops' screen.  We don't plan to actually work on the beach, as she has to be on the phone (and so do I).  Rather we'd work from the condo or whatever then hang at the beach after work.

Her new job is actually with Copart.

Most micro computers are VESA mount compatible.   You should be able to attach it to the back of the monitor very easily.

If the monitors are Dell monitors, they make a stand to mount it on the back. Yeah, It's not as easy as a laptop but it's clean.

Yes, I believe the monitors are Dell.  Guess I'll look into portable monitors or figure out a way to efficiently transport the monitors she has.  There's no way to connect the micro computer to a laptop?

Remote desktop might work, if the company will allow it.

Can you just run it without a monitor and remote into the machine with a laptop?

Did the micro computer come with a wireless card?

I didn't even realize they existed but PC Mag has a review of travel monitors. Something like John Welsh recommended or maybe an old briefcase with the monitor mounted in the top may work well?

I see it has USB-C with display capability, so this should work:
