+1 to Rows before Os, primarily for most efficient extraction of cornmeat.

Rows before O's, bros. For sure.

Although, my wife turned me onto a completely sacrilege way of eating it: cutting it all off the ear and onto the plate. Less messy, easier to eat, but not as fun.

I guess Os have their place, as long as you have short hair.

Rows.  This shouldn't even be a discussion and I'm genuinely concerned about anyone who eats "round and round".

I must be a sociopath, I do orbits like an Edison phonograph. Seems faster and less messy but I never thought too hard about it...

sidebar for the row consumers: do you really mean row by row, or do you just mean lengthwise vs circumferential?  personally, after i complete the first lengthwise pass, i do indeed go row by row, using my uppers.

I do a messy row first.

Then on the next row, I sorta pull the row down and out. I love the look of that cleanly kernalled cob by the time I'm done with it.

I'm in the orbit camp, but I also pull each row out cleanly rather than leaving half the corn on the cob. My rows are just more of columns the width of my bite, going around before moving to the next one.

Rows gets all the butter on the corners of your mouth.

nobody's said orbital rows yet? Get a little candy cane stripe up the cob.

We truly are in the dog days of summer.

We're discussing how to properly eat corn on the cob.

Don't knock it. It's been more constructive than our EV discussions.

I figure Alfred E. Neumann summarized it all for us.

usually takes about 4 good rows to clear the corn in my case. maybe more depending. multiple individual niblet rows per bite
