Some dude calls up on my home number asking for john or joren or some E36 M3 like that. Told him he had the wrong number and he starts yelling that he is gonna come shoot my house up and he will kill my family. Call up the local sheriffs dept. They come out to "take a report" and the first thing that the officer says is well we cant really doanything about it celk phones are pretty anonymous. What a bunch of useless dicks the union county sheriffs dept is.

you should have googled the number that was on the caller id while the cop was there. they don't mind doing their job if they can get someone else to do it for them.

Did you ask him to give him your address? If he had it right, you should have told him you just moved, and given him something bogus or where his bullets would likely be returned.

Tried that , the assclown proceeded to call over and over again. With a cellphone I wouldn't worry but with a house number, google, and $9.99 you can have any address

Reminds me of the time some crook gave another crook a random number to call to get his cut of the spoils of some crime. It happened to be my number. The 3rd time he called and couldn't accept that he got a fake number, I gave the phone to my best friend and he said something like "you're never getting any money from me, I don't owe you a damn thing!"

The calls went on for a couple of weeks after that.

Hell I had a drunk neighbor actually pull a gun and point it at my head one night after Mom scolded him for pissing in the middle of the street. Cock sucker was listening to his police scanner and when he heard the call go out he ran in his house, shut off all the lights and wouldn't answer the door when they got there. Said there was nothing they could do...I said well you'll have some paperwork to do when the call comes in about the murder. They just looked at me shrugged and left. Ass whole didn't come out of his house for three days. But when he did he wiped dog E36 M3 under my door handles, broke my windows and set my car on fire. Of course I had no proof it was him and they wouldn't even take a report. That's useless.

WTF police doesn't take a report on that kind of vandalism?

Get this. Some kids came and knocked on my door and told me my car was on fire. I put the fire out and called the police. When the officer got there and started to get out of his car a water balloon hit the A-pillar and the officer flipped out. He called in reinforcements and wouldn't even get out of the car until two other cars showed up. He looked at the hose laying there and accused me of throwing it. I said that's how I put the fire out and I was sitting on the porch when he pulled up and it came from the other side of the street. After about ten cops showed up they started going door to door up and down the whole block banging on doors and yelling at everyone. They eventually all disappeared and I thought it would be stupid to press the issue. It was a very bad neighborhood.

Eventually the same neighbor owned up to throwing the water balloon and found it very humorous. I still hate that man, if he's still alive I hope he is having very serious health issues.

The moral is the police are pretty much hand tied to do anything unless they show up and the guy has a gun to you or your families head.

In my case the dude lived across the street from me in the house I grew up in. He had a 69 Camaro sitting next to his garage in his back yard. And for some unknown reason, until I moved away, every time he would try to drive it, it would backfire badly through the carb and catch on fire...

The core issue here is someone called the house an then threatened to come over.
Though it costs extra to have an unlisted number, you are not required to list your phone number under your own name. Also, it cost no more to not have your address posted in the phone book.

As an example, if you Google up Navin Johnson in Huron, Ohio you will get my home office fax line (my only landline) with no address given. There may be a map given but that map leads you to the Huron, OH post office based on the zip code of Huron. Ironically, my mail does not even come from this post office and I live about 5 miles from that post office.

You'll need to log in to post.
