I lost my job again! I just started there 5 months ago and my "position was eliminated".......again! What the heck! I worked my butt off to get the job, then worked my butt off to keep it. I talked to my boss about 6 weeks ago and he said I am doing great, better than anticipated. Now, I'm filing for unemployment.......again!
Just venting.
I think it's time to get outta Michigan. Last one to leave, turn the lights off.
Indy seems to be holding FAIRLY steady. I haven't felt any pressure at my job as of yet.

This is the kind of anecdote that keeps me happily working where I'm at even though I had to take a 25% pay cut. It is scary out there.
I'm off to the unemployment office as we speak.. w00
btw.. I'm done with automotive.. Should have stayed in food. Always need a snacky cake.
I graduate in the spring, and I freak out about getting a job CONSTANTLY. scary economic future...
Yes, but we will need someone in television to tell us the wheels are coming off the bus.
You should be safe
I would love to move but man, I let's face it... it takes twenty of me to do the job of one monkey, it's not like that makes me more employable.

A friend of mine had his only job offer rescinded three days before graduation last December, so now he's on the search for another job. Of course, I faired worse; I graduated with him last December, and I have not received a single job offer, just a bunch of "We will call you back when we are no longer on a hiring freeze" responses.
SOrry to hear that man, I had a couple of friends just move to Houston on whim and both got jobs within two weeks with no leads.
I too am scared about the job market, I graduate in August and afraid that I'm going to be a freakin' "express" tech at Honda for the next few years. I can't even find a internship, no one wants to hire FREE WORK! WTF

I am really sorry to hear that. I bailed on Michigan about 12 years ago after I finished grad school. After a lifetime of watching the place on slow but definite decline for my entire life, I went elsewhere. From 70's through 90's, the states political leadership was about as visionary and world class as the American auto industry that supported them.
Sorry to hear that.
My dad says the three businesses to be in are: rental housing (always gotta have a place to live), food (everybody's gotta eat) and booze (no matter how bad things get, people will always drink).
^Which is why i have my bartending liscence, right there folks.

Fixed. \
Sorry about the job man. Just think, if Obama had taken the 800 Billion and given it to unemployment, they could have given every unemployed person in the country a check for 1.6 Million.
Think about it this way:
Add the funding for the Iraq and Afghan wars, Bush Stimulus, the Bank Bailout, The first automotive "Loan", the first Obama stimulus and the Housing bailout together... then divide by 215 million.
My calculator does not go that high.
$2,761,000,000,000.00 / 215,000,000 = $12841.86 each.
it's a good thing I am fluent in Spanish...and learning Mandarin...International job market here I come...lol
I am going to take Italian next, maybe I can get a job for Ferrari...
I've taken four years of Spanish, work with a ton of spanish people that only speak spanish, dated a girl from Argentina for a year or so, and still don't have the slightest grasp of that language. I guess growing up in Sebring I'm used to the slow talk of the country folk. I can understand it, I just can't speak it.
If you find a job and there is another position open, call me...please?

I would add to that medical/pharmaceuticals.
I have never been happier to be in the pharma industry. Not matter how bad things get diabetics need insulin (our specialty)
Thanks for the well-wishes gents (and maybe a lady or two among you?). Ok, I'm wondering, how do I break into the pharma or rental fields. I suppose with the rental industry I'll need a house to rent out huh? The problem with the pharma industry, (well, the problem with getting into any new industry I suppose) I can't live off the entry level wages. I need to somehow cross pollenate my abilities with the needs of that field.

Self employed, export security equipment to the Caribbean islands. Business is good. Just spent a week in Trinidad. I made a good choice. Finally.
Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like your area is ripe for moving out of...as sad as that probably is for you.
