During an internet rabbit hole I fell into this weekend, I came across Divina Galica's Wikipedia page, and I thought her story was worth sharing.

I'd love to do more research and maybe even do a more in-depth article, but the short version is that she competed in the 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1992 Winter Olympic Games, in downhill, slalom and speed skiing.

That gap from 1972 and 1992? She went racing.

Galica made it into Formula 1, where she entered the 1976 British Grand Prix, 1978 Argentine Grand Prix and 1978 Brazilian Grand Prix–each time running No. 13.

Although she failed to qualify at any of the events, being skilled enough to compete at the one of top levels of sports and motorsports is a heck of an achievement worth celebrating, and these are the sort of women I want my daughter to look up to.
