I know I can go buy some storage cases on eBay, but they don't seem to hold up to actual, you know, use. My son has some HW cars, maybe 100 (yeah I know, only 100, I'm not a good dad) and I'm looking for some sort of storage that he'll be able to put the cars away and get them again when he wants to.
Do any of you have any DIY, or well-built hot wheels car storage systems?
This is mine, made out of solid Birch. Lockable, of course.
Plano tackle boxes, the little clear ones.
Me likes the tackle box idea. I might have to check that out.
All of mine are still in the orignal packages. I buy clear plastic storeage containers from WM that are about 12"X6"X4.5" and stack them inside taking inventory of what's in the box. After a box is full they are stackable. Might work for a kid with the cars out of the package.

When I was a kid, I kept them all in a shoe box. I still have most of them... somewhere in my attic.
The current collection of newer cars sits on top of my entertainment center. After I renovate my house I'll have to come up with some way to display (and keep the dust off) my diecast collection (current and past).

+1 This is what I had as a kid. Now I'm looking at display option for my current collection.
