Trick I've found? Don't watch serious movies. Life is serious enough on it's own, I don't need my 90-120 minute "escape" being serious, too. If I want high drama, I'll go read a comic book.
Oh, and huge internet high five to whoever said Tokyo Drift was the best of the F&F movies. I whole-heartedly concur.
I will agree with those who say that Tokyo Drift was the best out of the F&F franchise.
You know why it was? Because the characters from the rest of the movie aren't in it overacting. I also think it was a little more realistic with the cars in the movie, however, the '68 Mustang couldn't really drift with the RB26 motor in it, so for it's drifting shots, there was a 351W in it.
What pisses me off is when someone calls out plot twists or their predictions of what is about to happen.
I don't care if YOU can predict it, I like to watch it happen on screen. By blurting it out, you are ruining the movie for me!
Sorry, that happened several times this weekend...

Isn't that kinda like saying "syphilis, the best of the STD's"
Any time my wife and I watch a crime drama on TV like NCIS or Castle, she will blurt out, "I know who did it!"
Then I tell her to shut her hole and make me some pie!

I saw the live action 'Initial D' movie recently. I think it's Korean made, not Japanese. The car stuff in that was surprisingly okay. Totally watchable, at least.

Depends on your taste in movies. I'll take "fun" over "critically-acclaimed" just about every single time.
Watched Sweeney Todd last night. Sure, its almost 3 years old now, and its a musical (I like musicals, so blah), but damn that is a good movie. I'm going to actually buy it

I don't have great taste in movies. My most quoted movie is Supertroopers.
I do generally try to look at movies as entertainment and not actually factual. He made the shot because the script says so. But there have been scenes that do bother me to watch. Most involve aircraft of some sort, usually helicopters. The A-Team movie is one of the latest, thought it more of a cartoon since there is so much BS in it that it is totally unbelieveable. That's why I generally stick to fantasy/SciFi type movies.
I think I quote Idiocracy, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Jurassic Park more than any other movie. I don't know why, but those are the three that stick with me.
I can pin point the year. 1987, Top Gun is finally on HBO. I remember saying, "That's crap! They can't do that!" I was 8 years old.

I have been guilty of that, though I don't do in theaters or large groups. With my wife though, I have watched several TV shows and movies where I said, "I see where this is going" and proceed to predict accurately most of the next marjor turns in the story. I am glad she puts up with me.

Yeah, I completely agree. Not that I was ever a HUGE fan of martial arts movies, but wire work has utterly destroyed that entire industry.
The first fight in Ong Bak fixed everything that was wrong with the genre.

anything Fast and Furious is so wrong as to be laughable.

When I was a little kid, watching the Wizard of Oz, I made it a point to tell my sister that those are not really Munchkins. They are just midgets in costumes. I also pointed out that there was a girl inside the easter bunny.
I guess I am that guy.
I didn't realize the Easter bunny was a carnivore.

Why are you wearing that funny man suit?
Have you heard about the "CSI" effect in the courtrooms, juries have become trained by Hollywood to such an extent that if there is no fingerprint or DNA evidence they are finding not guilty verdicts on what should be slam dunks for the prosecution.
It's madness because not everybody even leaves prints, never mind a convenient blood droplet on the carpet that is splashed in the wrong direction.
All the time. The worst was the remake of Pelham 123. Almost every thing that happened in that movie was wrong. All the locations, the trains journey through the same wrong tracks twice, to the police cars delivering the money. By the end of the movie I needed a valium and the wife wanted a divorce.

This was a problem in the jury I was on. the shooting happened just out of camera range so you saw the shooter pass, heard shots, and pass back but since you didn't see him actually shoot we spent a day arguing about how life isn't as perfectly scripted as tv.

yes the stunt car did have a 351.... however the car was capable of drifting.... i think it was hot rod that actually got thier hands on the hero car and found it to be a capable car.
