I'm sure most of you have seen the Dodge Durango commercials with Will Farrel's character, Ron Burgandy, advertising. Being that most of us are pretty set in our ways and goofy schemed advertisements don't exactly draw us in, what are your thoughts?
I don't think Anchorman's main demographic is being drawn in at all. I don't thin Ron Burgandy is drawing anyone in either. I doubt the commercials will prove effective at all.
I'm thinking Anchorman 2 is not expected to do well, so Ron Burgandy has been pimped.
Thoughts?
Will anchorman be a big Dodge commercial like Josie and the Bob Costascats was for Target? ...No that I would know that...
Cheap talent.
Who needs this more, Chrysler or the movie?
Notice the movie is featured at the end.

Think of it as half price advertising. I bet the two share the same agency.
PS: it seems to be working if the fact that we, the demographic, are talking about it a voluntarily watching the commercial.
PSS: Ron looks old. Older than I expected.
Well, at least now I know how many turkey sandwiches or packs of gum a Durango glove box holds...so there's that.
I was on a Dodge dealership lot this week and talked to a salesman. He said they're not selling much of anything right now. I suspect the marketing people have been instructed to up their game. That carries with it a greater than average risk of stupid, annoying, or offensive commercials.
I miss the old Cal Worthington dealership ads.
You don't see car salesmen riding brahma bulls or tigers around the lot anymore.
"If you find a better deal anywhere else, I'll eat a bug!"

We've got clients setting sales records up here. It's not a lack of advertising, it's likely that dealership not doing a good job online.
They got me to pay attention to a Dodge Durango ad. And I'm not even mad. If that isn't a home run I don't know what is.
BTW, that Chevy commercial about the sensitive farmer driving his truck through the mud to find his stupid baby cow or whatever made me barf all over my shoes. And who doesn't want to put their foot on Denis Leary's throat when he starts his whiny blathering about payload ratings or some nonsense? You win this one running away, Dodge.
I have seen a couple of them, and I LOL'ed. Can't wait for Anchorman 2! If anything, Dodge is doing the country a service by providing more Ron Burgundy material.
It's working. Non car people are talking about them. As noted, likely half price cost shared with film production.
The staring contest one is my favorite.

Hell no. He was the best. "I'm Joe Isuzu and you have my word on it.*"
