Good luck, sounds like a fun trip.
I did Phoenix, AZ to Columbus, OH (~1900mi) in 32 hours but that was with two people switching off with driving.

Thanks, I'll post some pics - when I get time. I'm going to try to do it in two 1250 mile days. Solo diver. Wish me luck!
Wow, that's a brutal schedule. I did Hilton Head, SC to Tucson, AZ in two days. Two thousand miles was enough for me. You're going another five hundred miles.
When you get tired, just pull to the side of the road, recline the seat and get in a little nap - on wait?
Fear not. I see that the Fiero is the "new car" in your personal stable.
Best of luck
hey Dave, glad you could join us! i started this thread for you yesterday.
two 1,250-mile days back to back is pretty brutal, but you're pretty brutal yourself so i'm sure you'll be fine. five hour energy, bitches!
ok, lets put together the details: you own a Corvair and a 'vette and youre excited about a 2.5K+ mile roadtrip thru half a dozen states in an Iconic 80s rear engined sports car that you DD and you consider 90k on the clock fresh...yes, you certainly are a good fit to this crowd. The only way that trip could be better is if, waiting at the end of the trip, there was a v12 powered Miata with a FM Hairless Racoon Delete mod performed, being piloted buy a stegosaurus listening to Def Leppard while shooting lazerbeams from a bumper mounted cannon, powered by bacon.
Good luck on the trip and welcome to the looney bin...er...forum
Wow... to do 1250 miles in a day... if you can average 60mph, you're talking almost 21 hours. If you can average 70, you're still talking just shy of 18 hours.
I have taken several trips on my Harley from here (Naples) to Baltimore. 1200 miles in ~16 hours (6AM to 10PM). So I figure 17 hour/day. Remember, the speed limit in FL is 70 and goes up in Texas. I should be able to average 70+ with fuel stops. I'm not one to take long breaks at the gas station. On the bike, I would only get off the bike on every other fuel stop. I have the time, so if it takes 3 days - no biggie. I just want to see if I can do it.
Yeah, stop right there and make with some more Corvair info. Real or not, that's a seriously high quality paint job.
Hey Dave, small world...I met Pat last year competing in FL with my Fiero! When it comes to long road trips in the Fiero, I'd recommend bringing a spare ignition module and coil (and tools for the job). They're cheap and easy to swap, and not uncommon to go bad on long trips...cheap insurance.
Enjoy the trip, and I highly recommend sleeping in a hotel...I have done it but it's tough to sleep in a Fiero for very long.

The Corvair is not an original Yenko. But my Dad bought it new with all the "Yenko" options - 140 four carb motor, steering and HD suspension. I've had a lot of Corvairs - this is by far the tightest one I've ever driven. I liked the Stinger paint scheme and decided to paint this one the same but the base color is the original color with black stripes. The really cool thing is we put on extra clear so we could sand the stripe edge down. You seriously cant feel the edge of the stripe. Totally smooth. It's a good runner. original 1968 with a 140/4 speed tele column, HD suspension and quick steer. I still have the window sticker. It also has 270K on it!!!
Close enough...youre in. Someone get this guy a GRM name tag. Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Bring a covered dish.

Can I put saran wrap over a 18 pack of beer for a covered dish?
